We painted the Virginia War Museum's Prototype T-97 155mm SP Gun (1950?) this weekend.
Used the Virginia Military Preservation Association's M543A3 Wrecker and tank towbar to move her and clean the track, the trucks compressor to augment the small provided air compressors over the past two...
That last thread had all the info I had. You can buy the clips (rotator piece) for around 9 dollars, but it won't do you much good unless you can polish the rod down and check it with a gauge. So replacing the clip (it's really a flat shear pin if you think of it) will merely be buying you a...
Minor lesson for those of us not used to towing big trucks, when I placed my Wiffle Tree on an M35 to move it around the yard I did not use the axle tow bar. Of course the next step was to beat the towed vehicles hood back out and add a little bondo and paint, but it sure would have been nice to...
Follow-Up
Well the museum came up with some money and hired a crane crew to move everything without my help. Funny how getting involved with something that you can likley accomplish ends up driving them to get active and "find" the resources that were so tight before.
So it's done, the...
The VMOA has an early M4 that could use a transmission and front final drive as well as the track. It was a range target, there's another range target M4 for sale up in Washington State over on G503, Get it if you can, there's always a need for components.
Seems to me they made it into an...
Here's the VMPA's M543A2 wrecker 'Miss Virgin ia' after I finally replaced a few front bearings. I actually hit 56MPH on a 3 mile straight flat stretch on the way home from the show, woo hoo!.

Good hunting, I looked for 15+ years, found one on e-bay new un-issued that went for over a grand, then finally at last years Aberdeen show (2010) I found about 6 all needing rework on handles and such, but laying out on the table for $75 ea (I would have /should have bought two if I had the...

Why do you think you need a suppressor in your system? Only Armored vehicles used these, and if your going for a simple intercom setup you won't be drawing enough power to worry about it. Voltage spikes in the larger generator/altenators that armor used is what the 7777 was designed for.

Of course the TOW Jeep shot has to be when a kid pushed the barrel up and aimed at all those Tanks in Trees....
There WAS one Deuce sold that was not advertised at the show... A Cherry Vietnam painted '68 A2 was sold for a riducuously low price to a fellow member who will preserve it.
The M151...
Haven't heard from him. "Miss Virgin ia" should be up and running if the outer bearing arrives and this cures the speed issue. I will lift Tripod up and put her in the Deuce to haul it over there then we can transfer it at the show with "Miss Virgin ia"
GPW is ready to get shot, after...
There is a registration with the intent for planning only. If you were a vendor or such (all inside this year) there would be a fee, etc. The registration was just so we could figure out how much space should be allotted for various areas in the field out front. Figuring on breaking it down...
Hope we spread the word a little more about this, I'm working hard with Glenn B. to get the M543 Wrecker moving, but need front right bearings to get her rolling. Darn thing would hit 30MPH then when entering 4th start slowing down... Turns out there were no inner front bearings on that side. I...
And as a FINAL follow-up to this...After tracking down the guide PN GU404360 (the little two eared yoke that the gear drives to spin the plunger as the cam drives it up and down) and calling AMBAC to find out it was only $8.43 for the part, I started discussing it with their pump guy... I was...
Well long story short they sent the correct parts which arrived the next day. I installed them to no avail, as the shaft had actually frozen on the fuel shutoff block and this subsequently broke the little yoke clip that ensures the shaft turns (broken in 4 parts). I installed another IP HH...
Just a heads up, refocusing on this event unlike the past year where there were some competing area events.
The VWM MILITARY VEHICLE AND MILITARIA SHOW, Sept 17/18th - 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sat, 10:00-4:00 PM Sun, Virginia War Museum at Huntington Park, 9285 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News, VA...
AMBAC actually called me...:-D Said they have the Button for $50, and the BO903 fits in place of the BO901 (Nice lady checked with a gentleman that had worked there as long as the Deuce has been made....) To add to this she covered the cost of shipping if I went ahead and bought the button...
For those that may follow the HH internal parts discussion, I found AMBAC sells the clips (maybe) for $1.02 part number RG902 (again maybe) so I ordered Two of them to see if they are correct. They list a "button as BO903 (not BO901 as per the manual) but then the button has no associated price...
Would anyone have a good ring clip (part number 01843-RG902 ) It's a small ring with three end clips that holds the button on the bottom of the Hydraulic Head. My Deuce stropped running, got her started ran home, she died again, and would not bleed fuel to the lines. We finally (6 Months later...
