    Injector Pump - DB2 Rebuild

Make a small press out of a c-clamp. With a quality c-clamp, a socket to slide over the pin and some penetrating oil you should be able to remove the cross pin without damage

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I had the axle housing bare about 5 years ago, that is why it looks clean. Cleaned it with phosphoric acid, painted parts of it, put a new ring and pinion, bearings, seals, kingpins, kingpin bearings / bushings and brakes on it. At the time for whatever reason I did not replace the u-joints as...

Injector return hose side by side comparison. Tygon/silicone/Viton etc...

Update- It has been 5 years with the viton hoses and everything has held up well. The only one that failed was the hose that had to be stretched considerably larger to fit on the steel “crossover” return pipe, and that happened years ago.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

New u-joints in the Dana 60 on my project. About a month ago one seized up and made for some interesting turning from time to time. I was thankful that I had a good ball joint press to press out the old u-joints, and press in the new ones. New Spicer parts went in and it should be good to go...

    Connecting rod bearing help

A google search of "18007471 bearing" showed one other forum where an individual did a budget rebuild and found bearings with that part number inside his engine. That was it- no useful information, it was never stated what size they were. Your best bet would be to measure the crankshaft...

    Injection pump questions.

Excellent. With that news from Badger you should be good to go. The 24v cold advance solenoids used two connectors- the 12V ones used one. Leaving the connector there as a blank to fill the hole makes sense.

    Injection pump questions.

This is my $.02 I'm a little rusty on injection pumps since mine has been trouble free for a few years now. That looks like a 24V cover to me, as the fuzzy memory thinks the 24V versions were the only ones with the additional terminal. Might be worth a call to badger just to make sure they...

    CUCV Driveshaft Length

I ran into the same problem and long time ago. I could swear I posted about it on the forum, but I couldn’t find anything when I searched. I ultimately went with the “shotgun” approach and ordered several bushings from Rock Auto and one of them fit perfect. Also- have you measured your...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Well- that isn't the best way to bring in the new year. Recover well - take care of yourself. It isn't fun to have a chunk of your time on this earth consumed by the actions of some other idiot. I know it sounds corny but hopefully you can find something you have been meaning to do to occupy...

Smoking pretty badly on the driver's side, and blowby.

New or rebuilt injectors can be used in a new engine if you have to go down that path. You can have the injectors tested at an injection shop, but honestly rebuilt ones are so cheap that you may just want to forgo that and swap them out.

    Bilstein 5125 shock install

I don't have any experience fitting the Bilsteins with the stock upper mounting point. Probably worth a call to Off-road design. You may need to get a buddy with a lathe so you can turn some custom bushing / washers.

    Hummer wheels on M1009?

I hate to break the news - but that front axle is not a Dana 60. - that looks like a 44 to me. The 60 does not use 2 U-bolts on the passenger side. It uses one U-bolt, and the housing is threaded for 2 bolts in place of the inner U-bolt. UPDATE... I edited the backspace numbers to reflect...

    Bilstein 5125 shock install

Did you purchase the kit that uses the extended front shock mounts - or the stock mounting points?

J- hook windshield wiper arm conversion

They fit. Arms are a little longer than stock, but with 17” blades they swept just as low as the stock ones and an inch higher. Update...Just drove 100 miles in the pickup this evening in a rain / snow storm. Wiper worked great. Was nice to be able to run a premium Bosch wiper assembly on it...

    Arduino 4L80e controller

You could make input/output ratio based slip detection, temperature based failsafes, all kinds of cool stuff. I’ll probably go down the 4L80E path someday, after seeing how versatile and easily tuned electronic vs hydraulic transmissions are first hand I don’t ever want to mess with dropping a...

    Arduino 4L80e controller

Very cool. If I had any idea how to code I would partake.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Honestly - I don't know what makes the heavy duty more heavy duty. Below is what Crown says about their standard braded line, they don't have their new heavy duty line shown... http://www.crownperformance.com/technical/ Rick - If my pickup was stock height I'd be running standard rubber...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Long story short there isn’t a part number for the pictured brake hose set - yet... If you want some similar to them they are dimensionally identical to Offroad Design part #GU30011 BUT instead of the smoke clear jacket over stainless braided hose they are made with Crown’s new “heavy duty”...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I installed new brake hoses. The old ones were a little over 6 years old. New ones are a "heavier duty" version of the Crown ones resold by Offroad Designs. Hopefully the jacket over the stainless braid on the new ones holds up a little better.
