Got my M1008 off of Craigslist, but learn to expand your searches to find the needles in the haystack. I searched every Craigslist site within 250 miles of where I was. I also expanded my search to odd key words that would apply. Mine was listed as “1984-Chevrolet Pickup” and I found it on the...
Made some progress today by using the TM's to get my glow plug circuit back closer to original. I tested everything and found the PO had replaced the glow plug relay with a non-isolated one and removed the GP card. I replaced the GP relay with an appropriate one that isolated the circuit and...
Disc’s then start with rocking to use the vehicles weight to do the work for you. And if that doesn’t work pull the tire again and work the pads. The pad/shoes get stuck to the drum or rotor and will just need a sharp wrap or jerk to get free. Sitting will usually free up with rocking, a big...
I was just looking at that the other day in the LMC catalog. It looks good, any idea how it compares to the one above it on the same page? $339 for LMC or $675 for GM is just too much for a replacement.
So far, the longest in my M1008 was 120 miles from the mountains of NC to my home near Charlotte NC. Had a nice detour for part of the trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Plan to take it further but trying to avoid interstates to keep it below 55 mph whenever possible.
I thought this info might help some of you since PulseTech® info does not cover it.

This is my first write up and I am doing it from memory so read the entire write up before performing any work. There may be some errors so let me know if you find any and I will make corrections. Writer implies no warranty or chance if success since he is not the one doing work. Briefly, if you...
Yes, I know I could have but I wanted to keep it close to original. I had it on a vice close to the proper size and using a socket and extension with a hammer that was almost perfect for a drift. I am hoping my efforts eventually help others. I thought today after I got some rest and will try to...
I just wanted to share my evening adventure with you all.
So the other day my Driver’s Side (GEN 1) Alternator threw a belt. During the replacement process, I noticed some drag on it indicating some bearing wear. I ordered a rebuild kit of eBay. I have rebuilt standard alternator before and...
Had the same thing happen to me Monday. Pulling off from a stoplight heard a noise and the "GEN 1" light was on. I drove carefully home. Found the Drivers side alt belt lying broken on the inner fender. The power steering belt flipped but still in place. Next day I was on a quest to replace al...
Yep just take your time and work methodically and only pull one bulb at a time and look at the numbers so you don’t get them mixed up. I even did this when cleaning the circuit film. If you haven’t seen it yet read this great write up by 1stSarg

Took me a Saturday afternoon to do mine. Any parts store should have the grease. Mine ended up being a broke wire near the tank. Still worth the effort to clean the contacts and replace burnt out bulbs.
Oddly enough, that is all of the LED based blackout lights that work on my M1008. I keep thinking of it sitting on post some place with the blackout lights running for days on end… Guess I am glad the driver was not a left-foot-rester burning the brake lights all the time... Yes the fuses are fine.
Bilstein Part Numbers
M1009 aka K5 should be
F4-B46-0923-H0 front and
F4-B46-0933-H0 rear which are the same for the K10/K20
M1008 etc. aka K30 are
AK2042 front and
AK2043 rear
The first ones may work/fit on a K30 sized vehicle but I would not recommend maxing out the load with them.
