Trouble with something that purty is: ya don't want to put anything in the bed cuz ya might scratch or dent the wood. Ya don't want to take it anywhere cuz some one may open a door into it, or otherwise mar the finish. SOOO - it stays all nice and shiny new in the garage..
If the PM's don't say how to adjust, you should be able to get a good idea by measuring. A few times, when I could not directly measure tooth engagement, I put heavy grease or soft wax on the gear and figured tooth engagement by what had not been pushed out of the teeth by the opposing gear.
Hey Z - don't go breathin that stuff. It does bad things.:-? Make sure it is fully cured before putting stuff into attached garage - don't want none of that seeping into living quarters.:sad:
Patracy, Thank you for fixin whatever it was. I am still trying to figure out what mounting your drive has to do with a computer problem, but then, I never tried to mount my own drive. I do not know how to do that. Sounds painful. I think needing a spacer to properly install the drive is very...
I agree - per my post 26 . .
A broken band strut or similar would still leave you with some forward gears ..[/ QUOTE]
NO - low is all forward clutches disengaged, all forward bands...
Before you buy, play the video in post 7 and listen to it. Yes you will be heard, but if I heard that sound from a MV, I would be laughing so hard, I might have to change my shorts.
1968-75 Caddy tri note horns were the best. Used to get them at junk yard for $10.- I would take the underhood wiring too, and re-use it. Put quite a few in Camaros and Chevelles. Even put a set in a Vega! Get the Caddy horn relay too - it has big contacts for the 3 horns.
Usually them horns get wimpy because of dirt & grit inside the horn jamming up the diaphragm. I take them apart, clean up and adjust the horn points for max loudness at close to rated amps. Stock horn in good condition is loud enough for me. Some states...
Doomsday, if you work on engines and man trans, do what you said in post 16. Don't let guys scare you. I've rebuilt auto Trans, not that big a deal. There is a possibility that the selector is not moving the valve spool to the right position, and oil is not pressurizing. In any event, you are...
Often starter suddenly dies like that due to worn brushes. Old mechanic's trick - hit the side of the starter - jars brushes and usually you can get a few more starts out of it - gets you to where it can be replaced.
That ain't good:( enough suction and tank can start collapsing, which would make fuel gauge squirrely for sure. I would check tank venting. Hopefully someone will be along with specifics on where to look and TM's.
There is an elementary equation from basic thermodynamics that states that the rate of heat transfer (Q) equals the mass flow rate (M) times a Constant (the specific heat of water) times the Delta T (fluid temp out minus fluid temp in):
Q = M x C x Delta T
In other words, the rate of heat...
Most newer civy vehicles have electric fans. On front wheel drive with cross mounted engine, that is most practical way to get radiator airflow. They use an aquastat to control fan, and still have the thermostat in the cooling system. Since the major auto manufacturers still see a need for a...
I do not like straightened structural parts. In my experience, once the metal is bent and straightened, it never has it's original strength, and readily bends at that spot. Bad thing if there is another collision in that area.
That gets tricky - unless he just wants the parts. In some states, the ins co is required to stamp the title "Salvage" or "Scrap", to prevent unscrupulous from pasting together a wreck and selling it to unwary. That is supposed to stop anyone from registering it again.
