I needed some - could not find rubber ones anyplace, so went to pick-a -part and popped them out of floor, trunk, firewall of a few vehicles. They squeeze down nice, and will fit a hole close in size.
Dmilkman - wondering if you got it fixed? At independent repair facilities, no one used pullers - woulda needed a bunch to service all the different sizes on various vehicles...
I have not seen it done that way, but you could. My concern would be absorbing the forces it takes to loosen the big nut on the end of the pitman shaft without overstressing box internals. I think you would have to brace the pitman arm shaft with a piece of angle iron or something so when you...
Ok - here's the how to: First you remove cotter pin and loosen nut enough to have at least 1/8 clearance. Always leave the nut on so nothing pops loose and hits you. You put a bottle jack on end of shaft/nut and jack enough to pick a bit of load - 100# or so. You jamb the pickle fork in and pry...
FYI, you don't hit with a hammer at end of pitman arm - usually causes serious damage to steering box. The poor man's way is to use a tie rod end separator. Tool looks like a big tapered fork. People in the trade call it a "pickle fork"
After talking to one of the mods, I will lay it out as I see it.
Maybe this will help others.
You may not realize you are essentially driving uninsured. If you know or should have known about a condition, and someone is subsequently injured. In most states, insurer does not have to cover it...
That would change the toe, and cause heavy front tire wear. This is the type of person I hate seeing with an MV! Driving an MV with damaged suspension/ steering on public highways is irresponsible.aua Damaged part fails, he looses control and collides with innocent civilians at highway...
What I do with a motor not run in long time. Remove oil pressure sender or line to oil pressure gauge. Screw in clean 1/8 NPT nipple with piece of clean rubber hose & hose clamp. Put end of a pump oiler into hose and snug clamp. Pump oiler is clean and filled with clean oil .. ( I...
Yeah - off road, you want it to end close to wheels as possible so you can have good ascent and departure angles. I believe 12 foot bed would be functional, but think it would look like an abortion, that is why I suggested cardboard model.
Personally, even though I know a fair amount about vehicles, I would pay someone who has bought a number of vehicles from GL to come with me, or inspect in my absence. My opinion, money well spent. As mentioned in previous posts, too many "gotcha's" I might not have thought about waiting to...
Scott- you got that big lunk of an engine up front - you really think 2 ft would make a difference? I know you don't get snow there. In snow country, people talk about putting several tons of stuff in back for...
Good move - they rod it out and clean air side, so your cooling capacity goes back to 100%. No overheat on long hill in NC summer. AND they PRESSURE test it when done, so you don't wind up draining and taking it out twice, when you find another leak. In my opinion, $85. well spent.[thumbzup]
