anybody towed a m105a2 with a 1990 jeep cherokee loredo?

Remember - 24 volt electrical system on Military trailers. For lights/turn signals to work properly have to convert to 12 volt that Jeep has. Military trailers use pintle/ lunette tow system, Jeep came with ball and receiver system. For me, the time and cost to convert a small military trailer...

anybody towed a m105a2 with a 1990 jeep cherokee loredo?

Dangerous tow at highway speeds. Quick stop without properly balanced trailer brakes, and your jeep will be going sideways on interstate. Likely to cause an accident and hurt people. Then, when they investigate, you get blamed and written up for improper towing. Take the 5000 pound rating...

    Refrigerated Container with Trailer

That is correct. Real PITA to get all the R12 oil out of evaporator and condenser. At least most compressors have a drain plug on bottom. Compressors on systems converted from R12 to R134 run HOTTER, are less efficient, warmer air from AC. I have repaired and then converted several in Civy...

    output voltage crowbar

If the concern is just surge protection, you can buy whole house units that are UL/CSA/ANSI certified for nominal cost. 1 style uses 2 breaker slots and just plugs in. The other is a box - that is what I have because I did not want to sacrifice 2 slots. Protects my electronics on genset and...

    Refrigerated Container with Trailer

From the gauges - if they work- looks like may have juice in it. I would borrow/ get a R12 refrigeration gauge and find out.

    Gauge repair question

If you mean yours have Radium inside, strongly suggest you do not open them, much less disturb very fine dust inside.

    Gauge repair question

When I find out what I'm going to use to re-crimp the ring I'll post pics. Heath, When I can, I leave rims uncrimped on old gauges and seal with clear epoxy to keep moisture out. That way if I have to get back in again, I do not have to bend the metal again, and possibly crack it - usuallly...

GL Engines- Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose

That should buff out, no problem.rofl Like you wisely said - never pay more than scrap for them. Well anyhow- you got a set of injectors, IP, glowplugs, some rods & pistons and perhaps good heads. Scrap the block, the rest should cover your cost and time.

    deuce brakes

I wonder if there is a way to convert to dual circuit - so much safer. I have done it on 2 axle, not more.

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

Once again - Looks great - you can work on my stuff anytime! Is that an old 12v battery booster I see on cab floor? Yeah - post pix of belt tensioner. I use a wood wedge to get correct tension, tighten 4 base bolts, remove wedge and use it to block wheel. Have to do it every 10-12 years or so:-D

Jump starting with a M1009. Could have gone real bad

I think if you merge 24 with 12, something bad happens:doh: Although, many AAA trucks around here have 24 volt jump start system they use on 12 volt vehicles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a cord with a pushbutton on the end which energizes a relay. I see the AAA guy stands near the cab, far from the...

Rear Diff Smells like a Sewer PLUS: ID these diff parts???

GM used the "corporate" 10 bolt 8.5 inch diff in full size and smaller Chevys, Buicks, Olds, Pontiac, 4wd Jimmy and blazer, bronco, camaro, Z28, firebird, K1500 and K2500 pickups and 1/2 and 3/4 ton pickups. They replaced the 8.2 inch about 1970, and continued to use 8.5 10 bolt to late...

Rear Diff Smells like a Sewer PLUS: ID these diff parts???

For civy paved road service, you are right - barring leaking seal they usually last life of vehicle. Extreme service -Off road & rock climbing or deep water fording takes a toll tho.

Rear Diff Smells like a Sewer PLUS: ID these diff parts???

Just seeing your posts first time. When you said they found metal dust in the bottom of second rear, I knew it would not last long. Anytime you find metal in bottom of anything - axle, transfer case, engine, trans, it is on it's way out. Sewer smell and discoloration means problem - lubricant...

If you get it working, no longer active military, is there a way to legally transmit?
