SmokeyDog,
I'm checking out a couple of other things as well before I dig into the IP. I don't see any leakage of diesel but I may take you up on the offer if all else fails. Last night I cleaned the electrical terminal for the solenoid. They were pretty corroded. After which, I drove to the...
I just got off the phone with Advanced Auto Parts. They want $422 for a fuel pump and are calling the solenoid a relay. Is the solenoid an electrical switching device or mechanical? They can't get the relay. Any suggestions on where to get the solenoid/relay besides a dealer?
I figured if I traced the fuel line I'd find the IP but knowing what to look for is a big help. Is it a difficult job to swap out the solenoid? Any tricks like bleeding the lines or turning the engine with the power disconnected ect.?:?:
Injection pump solenoid
Where on the engine is it located. Can I get away with just replacing the solenoid or do I have to replace the whole pump? I design relays and contactors (solenoids) for military aircraft so testing the solenoid is NP;-)
Again, It's my first diesel.
Does anybody have any suggestions on what might be the problem. She starts right up cold when the glow plug "WAIT" light comes on but if she's warm and the light doesn't come on, she wont start.
She's a 6.2 Detroit
Are you sure that one of the two leads aren't making contact with the frame and shorting things out? There shouldn't be a problem with unplugging things and leaving them unplugged.
It's not that it's a bad place. There's just going to be a lot of expensive vehicles and vendors set up for the weekend. They wont be staying at the fairgrounds so somebody needs to watch over things.
Well it's almost time. I bought my first cucv M1028 back in February and have spent almost 30 hours a week in preparing her for the show. It's not that she'll be in it but rather as a part of the security force being provide by the ODF. While she's still a far cry from being finished she's on...
Is there any fellow soldiers in the Malmstrom Air Force Base area that could help me out by picking up a GP small tent from Government Liquiation? The only shipping company in the area wants an arm and a leg to ship this to Ohio. I would be willing to pay somebody to pick it up, re-pack and use...
I have a friend that bought 40 brand new 6.2's of GL a couple of years ago. I haven't asked him what he wants for one but if you want I could find out.:-D
Not to worry fellow Soldiers, I'll keep the faith. It is a labor of love, and like a woman, ya gotta love her even when you want to push her out the door.aua
I spend all weekend bending and welding new steel in the right hand door where I cut out the rust.
I found one more thing to make my...
I'm not sure how much further I'll take her. I may try and remove the bed so I can paint the back of the cab but I'm not sure yet.
I've been working in sections and putting all the parts for that section in a bag. I should be a to figure out how to get her back together especially with the...
I'd better stay home and work on mine before the wife gets too pissed off about not being able to put her car in the garage. Every time I think I'm about done disassembling, I find more that needs repaired.
I started gutting the cab last night and hope to finish tonight. :-D
Does it ever end? Each day I think I'm nearing the end of the dis-assembly phase only to feel the need to take it down further. I'm beginning to wonder if I can ever
put her back together again.
This time I got the photos to attach, I think:oops:
