    M101A2 Master Cylinder Info

After going through all kinds of threads on these units I've found that a master cylinder out of an early 60's Jeep should be the same as the one used on the M101A2 trailers. Most of the parts store employees couldn't find their *ss with both hands since it's not listed by make/model/year in...

    4A032 starter

If anyone finds this info, please post up on here. I have an air compressor with this engine. The engine has a 24 volt starter that does a great job of turning the engine over, but I would like to swap it to 24 volt and eliminate the dual batteries. It would be easier to just hook up to it with...

    Leg/Landing gear/Wheel

I've been looking for one of the "original style" crank ups from an A-3 to put on my A-2 for a while. They must be few and far between because I haven't had any luck. I have to agree that these trailers can get heavy with a load... Smitty

    Strange Vibes when accelerating

I'd lean toward the u-joints too. The added stress from the drive train being in 4wd may have pushed one over the edge. Smitty

    Chicken Fried Wires.....

Looks like you have had a fusible link get hot. If someone was splicing into it I'd guess that it fried in the past and they never replaced the entire wire. I'd fix it and test to see if there are too many amps being drawn on the circuit. Smitty

    Deuce Wheel Sources

Glad to see you found the site. A great place with a lot of guys that know what they're talking about. There are manuals for most of this stuff under the "Resources" tab at the top of the page. Smitty

    Deuce Wheel Sources

I had a friend call me up today. He was looking for four wheels/tires from a duece to move a project of his around. I don't think he is looking for anything in perfect condition, just something to get him by while he's working on his project. Is there anywhere around the Florida panhandle...

To much on the headlight fuse! M1031

The connections inside the fuse blocks of these old trucks leave a lot to be desired. I've had to go through a few of them and clean/adjust the terminals to get good connections. I was having a problem with the plastic melting on the fuses, but the fuse would not be blown. It turned out the...

    Batteries

I had installed a new set of the 6TL batteries in my truck when I bought it from GL. After they bit the dust I put in a pair of the group 31 deep cycle batteries that WalMart sells for boat trolling motors. They are cheaper than the 6TLs and seem to work better. I've run these things for the...

    Why not 10w30

If you can find 10w30 oil that is spec'd for diesel engines, go for it. When we were running these trucks in the AF we ran 15w40. Smitty

    CUCV cheap headlight, great result

They put out more light and I use them in a couple of vehicles. I'd advise carrying a spare, since they don't last as long as regular bulbs. Smitty

Who won the 1031 at Eglin AFB on GL?

I looked at it when we were dropping off a couple of fire trucks. It was in pretty good shape. I think they drove it in, but the batteries were low when I looked at it. It only had like 61 hours on the generator. Not too sure what the final price was... Smitty

Where to find the fiberglass boards?

Thanks for the info. I just sent a request for information on price and availability. Smitty

Any one do the Roscommon 12volt conversion?

What does rewiring the relay under the dash accomplish? Just asking since this is something I don't remember doing a few years ago. Smitty

Where to find the fiberglass boards?

I just picked up another M101a2. All of the side rails are fiberglass except the front panel. Is there anyplace that sells just the rails and are they a direct replacement for the wood boards? (the three boards in the front panel) Smitty

    M1031 SECM Generator inop

I think the 3.73 gears are right for the type of use my truck sees on a daily basis. The truck has lost a little on the bottom end, but it still has the power to chirp an inside tire on pavement with the locker. I'll work on getting some photos up. It isn't real pretty and still has the...

    M1031 SECM Generator inop

I know you use your truck as it was intended. I had around 60 hours on the generator on my truck when I picked it up. Once I got the truck running I found the problems with the generator. I had switches missing/out of adjustment, wiring hooked up incorrectly and a bad magnetic pick-up switch...

    M1031 SECM Generator inop

Be sure to check the safety switches. I had a missing switch on my transfer case shifter. The switch on the transmission shift linkage that senses "drive" can also be very touchy on my truck. The way the wires are run for the generator systems on these trucks is not really the best either; check...

    M101 vs M116a2

Thanks for the info. Good point on the body swap, I didn't even think about that. Smitty

    M101 vs M116a2

I currently have a M101. I built some bows and bought a cover to get it set up to fit my needs. I'm currently waiting on a EUC to clear for a M116a2 that has the surge brakes, eight lug wheels and bed with the sides. Does anyone know if the bows and cover off my M101 will fit the bed of the...
