These threads are always good for the lulz. If your using good oil and changing it there is no need for added snake oil and secret potions. STP? good if you have a leaker and oil burner other wise your just pissing in the wind.
oh boy :doh::shrugs:
I have a super rare one of a kind 83 Bronco CUCV. It was used by special forces to haul the door gunners to the space shuttle.
On a serious note though nice truck, the Air force had bought a bunch of Suburban's, 4x4 1/2 and 3/4 ton I believe painted in the same blue color...
Looking good as always Rick. I wish at 102 it was too dry here to sweat. I for sure understand the lack of motivation due to the high heat I have been fighting that for the last 3 weeks at least. I'm ready for September so its not so painful to work outside
This interests me as the dash in my recent 1028A1 appears to be a fairly recent replacement however it has 2 thin splits in it. I would love to get it repaired then dyed the proper color
Thanks Rick I'll just leave them as they are and not remove them to add any. I know they are torqued properly since I used a torque wrench set to 33 ft lbs to be sure I had them tight enough and correct
Has anyone installed the GM starter bolts that do not have a flange made into the head of the bolt? The new ones I bought don't and I didn't install any washers or spacers if you call them that and I have a guy telling me the bolt heads will eat into the starter head where the bolts screw in...
Thanks I will try that, I cant start it now since my keys are riding around in the wife's car at the moment. I did pull the fuse, it doesn't appear blown but I replaced it anyway. I didn't notice the gen 2 light coming on at all yesterday, just the gen 1 light which went out as soon as the...
I have never had a problem at all with mine :shrugs: . I think the fronts are easier than the rears and probably one of the easier jobs on these trucks.
Do you have the correct pads?
Nice progress Rick. I can relate with the hot part, its been in the high 90's the last 3 weeks with a feels like temp around 105 everyday. The humidity here sucks
Ok just an update. I installed a new starter today. I got a MT27 and a MT28 curtesy of 67caprice427. I chose to try the MT28. I went ahead and picked up a torque wrench and I'm glad I did as the tightness I put on the starter bolts wasn't quite 33ft lbs as I'm a bad judge of tightness I guess...
I'm installing a new starter this morning, this is my first starter install so how tight do I need to go with the starter bolts? I'm using brand new GM bolts and I do not have a torque wrench.
Will they bottom out and stop at all?
I don't really add anything in my cucv's since I don't drive them very much. When I had a 12 valve cummins dodge I did add 2 stroke oil to it every fill up
It wouldn't surprise me if that doesn't become the case as I see more and more vehicles getting run up bid wise only to see them relisted a few weeks later
