Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

I got a great package deal on a good MT27 and a new MT28 from 67caprice427 in this thread, he's converting to 12v and gas and no longer needed them. I should have them tomorrow. I'm taking the one I pulled off the truck tomorrow also to a rebuild shop the company I work for uses to rebuild...

    1984 M1028 CUCV – parts/scrap or beater truck?

I agree totally. Thankfully my cucv's are hobbies for me and not daily drivers so as funds and time permits and I can pull them out of the garage and work on them at leisure and insure they are done right.

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

So I will run the new ones without a washer then. I'm getting GM 15544950 bolts, a handful of them actually since I'm already paying shipping.

    1984 M1028 CUCV – parts/scrap or beater truck?

The little hidden gremlins are what add up fast like he said you now have another project on your hands. I currently have 3 and its almost too much with the little gremlins already mentioned

Back Up again from GP auction?

As to the original question jwade has said in the past they have about a 30% default rate but 4 times on the same unit I'm not sure about.

Back Up again from GP auction?

    I'm curious

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

Hmmm, I ask as these I pulled from this starter which is the wrong starter (12v instead of 24v) has them and the starter head appears to have a recess or milled out area the same size as the washers on these. If they don't belong I believe you as they were probably added by the same person that...

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

I'm picking up several sets of new GM starter bolts. Does anyone know the size of the washer that would be correct for them or is it typical to reuse the old washers?

    1984 M1028 CUCV – parts/scrap or beater truck?

Just my honest opinion I would stop while I'm ahead if you got a decent deal on the axles. To try and make it road and use worthy for a couple of years could turn into a never ending money pit with what you describe. I regularly see the transmissions and t-cases selling for a couple hundred...

PSA for pre CUCV Canadian Military Chevy owners

That sounds like a pretty cool project for sure.

PSA for pre CUCV Canadian Military Chevy owners

Trying to stay within the rules so if this is out of line please let me know and I will delete. If your in need of a NOS military grill for the above mentioned 73-79 truck there is 1 for sale on a large auction site at a great price.

    CUCV-II (CUCV2) Dually

amazing they sold and possibly already started cannibalizing such a low mirage ready to run truck. Stonepicker and guesses as to how many cucv II's of all types were produced vs how many are still in the channels to be sold yet?

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

can this one be built to 24v specs or is it just about useless to me now? The only difference I see between the wires on the A1 vs my other 1028 is they have a separate power wire going to the diamond and the glow plug relay from each battery where as my regular 1028 has 1 wire going to the...

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

Hmmm the plot thickens, I didn't know this. The only thing I noticed is it came from the Army with the resistor bypass and there were 2 starter bolts (I didn't know what they were at the time) in the passenger floor board. I just set the terminals back on the posts for the pics as I had them...

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

LOL well I got the blue oval about 2 months ago to use as my daily driver since it has A/C and a drivetrain that I like even though I'm more of a Chevy guy. Its built with the heavy duty stuff and power nothing, just the way I like them. It has been a hand full ever since as the previous owner...

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

I didn't know that. I have heard in the past its best to keep the same starter with the engine for that reason

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

    mine is 24v not 12v.

Is this a symptom of a problem or the possible cause?

I'm pondering getting the GR starter and the required brace and running that and having my current direct drive rebuilt as a spare. You didn't have to mess with any shims and such on your 28MT install?
