I had the same issue with my 923, I went to the local junk yard, bought a class V receiver hitch for $40. We needed to make the hitch narrower to fit the frame. You can see in the picture where we cut it to make it narrower. Once it was the right width it was still 2" short from reaching the...
Update, we sold the M923 we bought in October but bought 2 more 2 days later! LOL. We bought 923 & 925. Road trip coming up next week from Atlanta to Port Charlotte. Fortunately my buddy we are hitching a ride with has hunting property outside of Macon so we are getting the trucks the 1st day...
I love the idea. We welded a Class V hitch to M923. Tucked it up under the Pintle about 1". Had to cut and narrow the hitch to fit the frame of the 923. We bought a 10" drop and it was perfect height. However, we sold the truck shortly thereafter. We just bought a 925 & 923. So we will be back...
We have a recovery coming up picking up 2 trucks from Atlanta Truck Center in southeast Atlanta and headed to southwest FL. If you could arrange to have the items brought down to the trucks I'd be happy to drop them in Ocala along the way. Unfortunately, we wont beable to go north to pick the...
So we purchased our 1st M923 in October last year. Drove it home from Huntsville, AL to Port Charlotte, FL on November 6. No problems. Had a blast with the truck in different events and camping! Kids loved riding in it. Got it stuck one time that required a 20 ton excavator to get it out. Sadly...
BTW, the alternator shop put the double V pulley described above, in rickycotte post, on my alternator. All included in the $145 I paid. He said it was better cause it was smaller than the MV alternator pulley and would spin faster. Lastly, I forgot to mention the new alternator is a 70 AMP vs...
I just replaced the alt in my M923, used a delco 24v. It was recommended by alternator repair shop. Took it home, had to drill MV bottom bracket out to fit 1/2" all thread and top slotted bar had to grind to make slot bigger for 1/2" bolt. It only required Pos & Neg to be hooked up. It was self...
I'm currently waiting on my title from GL. I requested it Nov 6. I went on FL HSMV website and found the title was issued by FL on Nov 29, and printed on Dec 4. As of Dec 13, GL still hadn't rcvd it. But as soon as they do they are mailing it to me. After research I did, I found the same info...
Anyone interested there are two redneck yacht club events coming up we will be going to with the M923 on Feb 22 and Apr 5. It's located in Punta Gorda, FL gates open at 8 AM Fridays and close 4 PM on Sundays. $50 per person gets you in all weekend. No glass, No firearms, No pets & No 3 wheelers...
Sorry, I forgot to add Pix of the "new toy" That's us loading firewood for the 1st camping trip. Of course the insurance Co. wouldn't approve of loading "anything" in it. :grd:
Changed the Alternator on my M923 yesterday. Used a 24v automotive style. Had to drill the holes on the MV bracket to accommodate 1/2" all thread. Also had to open up the slotted bracket with a grinder to accommodate the 1/2" bolt up top. Good news it only required Pos & Neg cables to be hooked...
Hi Yall, I'm new to Steel Soldiers. I purchased an '83 M923 Cargo from GL in Huntsville, AL in October. Drove her home on Nov 6 to southwest FL. 800 miles of no problems. Truck ran great and fun to drive. Little uncomfortable around 12 hours into the trip. But still a memorable experience. Would...
