I like it. I had hoped to build one just like that this Summer, following the lines of the factory bumper and reusing the brush guard. Never got around to it.
Is 1/8 inch plate fairly standard for these type of builds? I have been practicing/learning to weld and gotten my technique/welder...
There's always Evan's Waterless Coolant. Big money though. I suppose if my pockets were deeper I'd run it in my rig. I use it in my motorcycles. They do, however, use less than a gallon of coolant so @ $45 a gallon I can manage.
After 30 years the backing plate on my water pump was etched and...
Glad to hear that. I had shifting issues of own. Turned out to be a kinked vacuum line. Still need to readjust the regulator though. As if now 2nd and third kick in way early.
I've never put much thought or care into the preservation of the o.e. decals. But for curiosity sake is there a complete list of all the factory decals and locations? Nothing came up in the search. I only think this may be important to you, and your thread because if one was to make efforts to...
Don't have one so I don't know. I can say though that upon switching to a less restrictive k&n filter intake noise went up. Considerably.
Which would lead me to assume the addition of a foam dust screen/pre cleaner would indeed lessen intake noise.
I was actually surprised just how much more...
Pm'd you.HMMWV belts and hardware You'll need to enlarge the hole on the retractor assembly to re-use factory hardware and secure it to the cab. As well as drill a small hole in the cab for the anti rotation nipple to fit into. You'll know what I mean when you see it.
Here are the 90* "L"...
Have the superwinch hubs always used c clips and not snap rings on the shaft? Just installed a set and thought that was a bit odd. I know the function is the same but a full snap ring seems more reliable.
I'm running 33's, don't go the ohv park or attempt to play in the rocks. I'm easy on pedal and only occasionally bash around in some ruts. I just want to know that the traction is there if and when I ever need it. I run an Aussie locker in the front end of Ranger. Full circle clips and Spicer...
And then in this thread someone says 30

Sorry for thinking it wise to be certain before ordering $300 in incorrect parts.
This is why I suggested a hot sheet with part numbers of commonly sought after parts and components that...
m1009 front axle spline count
Day dreaming about lunchbox lockers for my front axle and this questions comes up. Mixed results using the search feature. Some posts say 30 some say 28. How many splines in an 84' 10 bolt front end?
I was told that the 30 splines were not used until 89.
what...
I could tell from the pics that the "universal" ones would need a 90* bent bracket on the female end at the floor. I like how the hmmwv ones have a rigid stem on the female end. I'll probably go with some of those.
Thanks!
Anyone have any experience with the universal 3 point seat belts on ebay? The factory belts in my M1009 have not retraced since I've owned it and took them apart to clean and check the operation and one is beyond repair. I'm trying to avoid spending the hundred dollars a piece lmc truck sells...
Just started my Behr job. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I chose to step away from the factory greens and decided on "olive leaf." It's a bit darker than 383 and was right there on Home Depot's sample wall. I'm just finishing up the top and am very pleased. Sprayed the paint...
It's a little dirty at the moment but this carpet dash mat has done a good job of hiding my cracked dash pad. Personally I sort of like the carpet mat. Kind of a a vintage look. Very period correct. They are available on eBay in all sorts of colors.
Stripped, prepped and coated the interior of my m1009 with Al's liner HNR and a top coat of Al's Liner. I did the cab and bedsides with a custom green color and the rear bed and wheel humps as well as the door panels in black. For the green I went to Sherwin Williams and picked out an olive drab...
So did these trucks not have any sort of gummy sealant applied along the bottom corners, where the top meets the cab when new? If that's the case I suppose at some point in the past the army took the top off and applied it.
