So I'm sitting here, trying to leave work. M1009 won't start.
No crank no catch. Just a nice click from the doghead relay. Also, the gen2 dummy light isn't glowing. No tools no flashlight. Probably tow it home and go from there.
oddly enough just had the front battery out on a trickle charger...
All the usual tool and fluids. Be sure there is a spare and jack/wrench. HEARING PROTECTION. Trust me on that one. I drove my m1009 650 miles home, no issues. But hearing protection would have been nice.
I'd suggest a long, thorough test drive. Check the fluids, Change them if need be and hit...
Safety issues aside, I don't think cost would be too bad. Seeing as how running my block heater uses something like $5 of power a night. 20lb propane cylinders can be refilled for $13.99 near me. Let's say you go out 5 hours before you're supposed to wake up and fire it up. I'm betting you'd get...
Not safe. In many ways. But if you're desperate a propane powered radiant heater under the truck. Aiming up at the oil pan. Left running overnight. I'd feel safe doing this in my driveway. Not sure about an apartment complex parking lot.
Not sure how long the gas would last. But a 20lb pound...
Installed one from the GM dealer last week. Didn't do too much research on it. Just gave the dealer the info and they looked it up. Installed it on the driver side. Just in front of the oil dipstick. been driving on it for a few days to be sure there is no air in the system before I plug it in...
I'm only familiar with Rud brand chains. They were featured in Bill Burke's "Getting Unstuck" DVD. Got that DVD back in the day and remember him using that particular brand on his Land Rover. Although, who knows which model he was using or if he was sponsored/paid to use them.
Seems to be a fair amount of info out there regarding chains for the 5 tons and dueces. Thoughts/experiences on an m1009?
I love my all terrain's and they are best for me and the limited mud driving I do. There has been two experiences in nasty wet grass that turns to red clay slush once you...
I've got the same cracks on my tailgate. I'm just gonna clean the area up and weld them then grind it down and seal/paint. Planning on pulling off the glass access panels and cleaning up any rust that may be on the inside too. Seal/paint it all up.
I've begun to realize that the holes in the body of my m1009, where the antenna mounts were torn off, may have become a breeding ground for inner panel rusting. Before I weld up the holes, is there any product someone has had good experiences with and would recommend to spray inside, through the...
I feel your pain. I was a lurker on this site and tore through all the auction sites and craigslist before finally, after a year and a half of searching I scored my m1009. Had to drive seven hours to get it too.
A friend of mine works retail and the electronic shopping cart pusher they use died and has been replaced.
Anyways the old pusher was free to a good home so I snatched it up. Turns out they had just installed new batteries in it last month.
I'm thinking solargizer and a nice auxiliary battery...
Hubs locked? Shift on the fly can only be performed when the hubs are locked otherwise grinding will occur. That should only apply if the truck is in motion, so if you're at a stand still, and in park/neutral there should be no grinding (hubs locked or free). Either way, try locking the hubs...
