I figured I could probably get by with out anything, however the bottom corners, where the top meets the cab had some sort of soft putty/sealant which broke away when I removed the top. Other than that the seals are great
After a great summer with the top of its about time to reinstall it. I read on here once, but can't seem to find the thread, about the various roofing caulks and or types of sealant used when you re install your top. Some sort of asphalt or butyl based product that never fully hardens. What do...
For many if us it does. Large files can be cumbersome to work with, especially when using a tablet or mobile device. Which I often am when working in the driveway.
Another thing, can't all of you senior members take a chill pill? I've never encountered more condescending negativity on a forum...
I only thought of this because I've spent the last 45 minutes trying to find part #'s for input/output seals on my m1009's transfer case. Furthermore when I did my belts w/ napa brand belts the ones I ended up using where not at all the ones listed elsewhere on the forum.
Is it just me, or can the TM's be a bit of a pain when it comes to finding part #'s? Yes, often times the best and most accurate way, especially when it comes to the little things, is to look at a diagram. But I was thinking how awfully convenient it would be if someone where to categorically...
The Baja t/a!?
There's no debating. BFG for sure. My dad had a set of the baja's on his H1 before he bought 17 inch wheels and slapped on the a/t. They were incredible. Road pretty terrible with the run flat inserts but those tires were incredible. After all, they are designed to crash over...
The whole tire debate and the recommendations people give is so similar to how it works with firearms. People are opinionated. Some swear by this, others by that. I'm a Glock/BFGoodrich guy. What I'm familiar with. What I swear by.
I ran the old bfg mud terrain and the all terrain back in high...
Assuming you're referring to the bfg mud terrain km2's....?? I say the bfg.
If youre wanting a little less aggressive wait for the new bfg all terrains. Should be coming out soon.
Any and all sidewall repairs I've done or seen done where total jerry rigs. Just enough to send someone limping down the road with no guarantee it was gonna hold. If there is a chunk out of a tire and the belts have become visible I wouldn't do anything but replace it. Have you seen a tire have...
These days we skip the part when you light the cement and instead let the cement sit for a few minutes and dry until it has a dull hazy appearance. Then apply the patch.
Key thing is to scrape away all the case liner and buff the tire down til its like velvet. Be careful not to go down too far...
"Hot patches" are a thing of the past. Both the Tire Industry Association and the Rubber Manufacturers Association specifically say "hot patching" tires should not be done. All you're doing is burning away the vulcanizing cement which does the job of chemically bonding your patch to the tire...
Thanks, I'll call them.
For some reason ( apparently gave too much info or something) my first attempt at this posting was removed for breaking the forum rules.
"GL will only load a Flat Bed Trailer" is the last line in the description section of a m101a2. Does this mean that's the only way they will let it be removed? Or simply they will load it for you if you'd like?
I'm gonna go over the whole thing tomorrow in the light and hopefully figure out where it goes.. I hate when this happens. Lol
No loctite just a dab of water pump/thermostat sealant on them.
Just wrapping up installing my new water pump. About to tighten up the belts and I notice a 15mm bolt sitting in the parts tray. Wtf!? Did a head count and doesn't look like I forgot anything. But never the less there it is.
Yeah. I get that its leaking from the inner shaft seal. Which most likely went because of the wobble. My question is in regards to the source of the wobble.
Sprang a leak from the water pump. After inspecting I could see some wobble in the pump pulley. There is a solid 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play when I pull and push the fan front and back. Replaced several water pumps in other cars but never noticed play in the shaft like this. Is this just a symptom...
Bfg Km2's.
Don't have them on the 1009 but run 35's on my other truck. Looks aside they are probably the best Mud tire you can buy. The looks of a tire will only showcase its ability to deliver what the industry calls mechanical traction. More and more tire manufacturers are replacing what once...
Fixed.
The loop connection on the heavy gauge wire going to the starter had a bit of a nib on it that was just barely touching the post for the small wire on the solenoid. I was under there showing everything I had done to a friend and I just happened to catch it at the right angle where I could...
