does anyone know if the m38a1's ever had headlight guards like the m38s did.i have a pair and would like to install them but don't want to take away from the original patina.although nothing suprises me about what the military did with there vehicles.
have a54 m38 a1 took off the cover of the voltage regulater and was supprised to find resistors capacitors and transisters ,in the base,when did they go to solid state regs.how do they stand up against the older type?
it started right up this mourning.i was adjusting the choke cable before it died ,so I think it was flooded,i was smelling raw gas .so I wan t to thank u guys for the help.jack

My M38A1 has a new motor and has been running fine. Went to start it to move and it got to oil pressure then sputtered for a few seconds and died and wont start, turns over acts like it wants to but wont start, any help out there?
That is an originaltop ,a friend of mine has one ,about yhe samer shape yours is in ,his has 2700 miles on it . His was in bodega bay calif and it is a gem, congradulations on your find!!!
If u move to calif u can work on year round,i have had the priviledge of that with my m ,sorry about the bad weather.this way i can work inside or out,do u have room to build a small shop maybe.
does anyone know what where I can get a 12 volt fuel tank sending unt,I think mine is a 6 volt and I just changed everything over to 12 volts and the guage pins to full when I turn on the ignition,it was a 6 volt truck when I got it so that's why I think its a 6 volt sender ,any help would be...
