Do it yourself. Do one at a time in case you have forgotten how to put the first one back together. Once you do them you will tell yourself there is no way I would pay someone else to do such a simple rebuild. If you have brought that truck this far on your own, dont stop at the alternators!!!
Very nice plow rig, the scoop action on that plow looks like it works very nicely. I have just a straight blade on my m1008, bet you could plow circles around me!
Loosen up your drivers side alternator so there is slack on the belt.
Loosen up the power steering pump. One bolt on back of pump down low and 2 in between power steering pump and water pump. Now get yourself a pry bar. The type I use is the Snap On pry bar with the plastic handle. Craftsman...
Your alternators are fine, no need to get excited about that.
And if you need to pull the heads off its a great time to upgrade the gaskets to something that will stand up to some boost for when you put a 6.5 turbo on it.
After looking around for the rear output shaft seal for a np208, all I can come up with are seals that don't have the dust cover, or dust boot on them. I see that National part # is 9449 for the seal, without the boot.
In the tech. manual, it lists the part number for this seal as 76680, for...
It looks good and should do the job just fine. I made one similar to yours and haven't had any problems with it. I remove the rear driveshaft and I can tow my m1008 down the road at 75mph without any problems. I do hook up a safety chain from the m1008 to the truck I'm pulling it with though...
The center will fit ok, but the problem is the front caliper does not clear the inside of the wheel, and you will also need to do something with the wheel studs, because the lug nuts dont seat correctly, and they chew up the aluminum. To do it correctly I would get a set of the wheel spacers...
I bought the plow and mount used. Had to modify the mount to fit it on the truck, but it wasn't bad. That thing plows like a dream. Its a lot of fun in a good snow
This is a M1031 truck I got out of GL in Minnesota. Had about 30000 miles on it. I removed the maintenance box and bought a regular M1008 box from another SS member here.(thanks Truckhead!) Got a good deal on 2 pallets of 37 inch tires and wheels out of ft Polk this summer. They didn't make it...
The squirters on my truck do the same thing, just kind of peters out. I do like your idea of crimping the nozzles down some. That just might give them enough pressure to reach farther up the windshield.
You could also try clamping off one side of the hose with a small vice grip so you only have...
You also might want to inspect the rubber return line from that injector. Last week I had an injector that was leaking. I tightened the injector down as hard as I could but it still had a leak. Upon further inspection the leak was coming from a small crack in the rubber return line. I replaced...
Thanks for the offer Craig, I think my Dad is going to make the trip down to CC, if something comes up and he can't make it I will get in touch with you. Thanks again for the offer to help!
Just won a snap on tool box upper from GL and thought I would post on here. I need it moved north. Ultimately it will end up here in Wisconsin but my Dad is in Arkansas and could pick up anywhere in Arkansas or Texas. If anyone has the time and room it would be a great help, and I can pay a fair...
When I got my m1008 the oil cooler lines were missing. All I did was install plugs in the block. I have been using the truck on a regular basis for over 2 years and have never had a problem. If I remember correctly just a standard pair of pipe plugs will fit. I didnt do anything with the cooler...
I'm sure you figured it out by now for yourself, but yes, that's the way the new capacitor goes in. I did mine that way and have had no problem.
Love the truck BTW!
Alright fellas, you're starting to get through to my thick skull. I'm starting to like the idea of hanging the np205 on the back of that Allison.
I will be starting a new thread on the Dmax swap when that project begins. Keep your shorts on though, it will be about a month or so before I start...
I like the idea of clocking a 205 case to the other side, but I have a 1031 with that 205 and it is one noisy sob and I Dont like the vibration it puts out. At only 30,000 miles it shouldn't need a rebuild yet but you never know til you open it up.
I know the np205 is strong, but I wonder how...
