It can be one of many things. Looking at the fuel issue I would loosen one of the lines at an injector and turn it over. Diesel should be pouring out of that line. If it is dry you need to chase down either a bad lift pump, or a malfunctioning IP. There are many steps to diagnosing a Glow Plug...
Fuel in the top usually indicates lift is working but you will need to pull the line to the IP and turn it over. If the lift pump is working it will hose down everything with diesel so stick the line in a clear bottle. I had the same thing happen but mine made a POP noise more relay like instead...
Big Rix if you need any patch panels and have a local Keystone aftermarket body parts supplier they carry patch panels. Rockers, tail pan, etc. If you want to use those aluminum wheels they can be powdercoated as I have a similer set I had done in gunmetal gray. They are lighter weight and...
Great Warthog. Thanks! I can buy this complete engine for way less than a pump rebuild and have it running by next weekend. I know it will be used but it looks super clean and if it gets me by for a few years I will be thrilled and save about $300 or more in the process. I need my 09 to haul...
I have a question. Will a military Hummer 6.2 IP work on my 09? I have an opportunity to buy a complete engine and if I can use the IP I will and keep the rest for later use. Please let me know if anyone has tried this.
Yes funds are tight. Put the breaker bar to the crank this weekend and no slop. Bought a new shut off solenoid and cove gasket from L&J (Diesel Logic). I pulled it apart and installed it. This one clicks like its supposed to and the top bowl was full of fuel. The old one made a funny sound when...
Simple, remove resistor, remove both leads from resistor, connect together using small bolt and nut through small eyelets, insulate, and reattach to GP relay then attach the other end to the 12V buss bar right next to the relay which is a black diamond shaped 2 terminal bar. Viola! No more...
The CUCV is all 12V except the starting and charging circuits that do make provision for 12V at the firewall. Instead of the thin gauge feed wire coming off of the rear battery a thicker cable can be used with a lug style 175 amp main fuse and a beefier distribution block. Even the trailer...
Do what I was going to do till mine decided to go south on me. Do a body swap complete. Her body on your frame (kinda sounds perverted LOL). Carc the interior, pull the data plates and the vin plate off of yours, rivet them on the new body, run 2 separate fuse panels, get the compressor kit and...
You can try an equipment rental place like Hertz and get a truck and trailer. You can go to a used tire seller or try craiglist and get a decent used set of the factory size tires to mount on those rims. New works too. Check it over well, PM it, and drive it. Just remember it's an old truck and...
Yes thats why I started with the relays and fuses because it definetly sounded electrical not mechanical.
I am leaning toward the IP being the problem. I was quoted $425 by L&J Diesel to do the rebuild then I have to buy gaskets etc which is not in the budget right now unless I can sell my...
OK Ill try that tomorrow but how would that prevent fuel getting from the IP to the injectors? The lift pump is working so the cam is turning. I DSG stud girdled this engine when I bought it as I had to reseal the oil pan, replace the flywheel, and rear main anyway. This is a 26K mile engine and...
Did that on the forward most cylinder on the drivers side and it was dry. Apparently no fuel is getting from the IP to the injectors, well at least one for sure.
What are you driving? Can you rent a Uhaul car trailer? That would be the cheapest and safest method. If not thorougly inspect and test drive before you buy. Then easy does it on your way back having some extra cash in case you need to make any repairs. I have the number of a guy here in Florida...
Well I have had further diag time. Crank cannot be broken. Pulled oil fill tube and cam and IP are turning. Pulled lower hose on fuel filter housing, the one that goes to the IP, and had my daughter turn her over. Plenty of clean diesel sprayed out with good pressure so the lift pump is fine. I...
I saw plenty of them in current body configuration at Blount Island Marine base all lined up ready to be loaded on a ship. Where they were going I have no clue.
RickF I was using a test lead not a test light. A wire with 2 alligator clips but not as heavy duty as the pink wire to the IP. Thank you ChevyCUCV for your advise as I will attempt that tomorrow. I do not believe the crank is broken simply because it turns over smooth and I can see the...
I tried new relays and the breaker to no avail. I loosened the line to one of the injectors and spun it over and I had no fuel coming out of the line. I used my test lead and put 12V to the terminal where the heavy gauge pink wire was connected and I did hear a sound, kinda funny like a choke...
