    Outfitting M1031 SECM

I also made the list!! Mine is just personal use mainly, but I do occasionally go out and help others. I have many tools and such in the truck to do road side repairs along with a basic 90amp welder. I do want to switch it over to all single phase one of these days, but works well for now.

    Sold my M1028A3

I was watching those lots, wonder if the towbar will actually be on the dually. It does have the NP205 as you can see that lever on the floor in the video as noted. There was also a second one without a bed and looks like it may of had a service box. Reason, there is the PTO belt drive in the...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I did read that can be done, but just as easy to do what I noted above. The exciter #1 wire turns the alternator on and can be shared, but #2 is for monitoring and should be separated. If not it can lower the battery life connected to ALT2, but my isolator on the main charging should prevent...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I just realized I made mistake in my wiring of the second ALT. I need to separate the volt monitor or #2 from the main system and just connect it to ALT2 main output. That way there is no direct cross voltage & amperage from main system if I turn off the isolator relay. The exciter wire can be...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

I have not done anything with the doors and jams yet, they are still red. I will likely just paint all of that red black and do not think I even have those carpet panels anymore to even spray them. Right now the plan is to hang on to them, but I will consider it.

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Well, might as well update since I mentioned I am adding a second alternator. Got that project done today and was not a simple task and took about 8-10 hour of work. I had to remove the A/C system and that bracket is behind the power steering brackets. So that had to come out and from there you...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Thank you Greg. The rear battery details are in post #127, but some of your questions were not detailed. It is charged off the same alternator as the other batteries and is run parallel as any 12volt system would be. Since my A/C does not work very well and pretty much never us it because of...

    My 1984 Chevrolet Suburban K20 4x4 3/4 ton CUCV clone #2 - AKA: M1007 or M1029

Thanks, I think the roof rack & KC bar makes it look complete and more safari over not having them. Good luck with your build, you should start a thread on it do all here can follow he progress.

    Can't lower tailgate

You should take the cover off and inspect the mechanics of the handle release system. Likely somethings is broken in there and that may be the only way to open/fix it. Now I have never taken the cover off with the tailgate up, but I think it can be done.

    M923a2 air question

Pretty much all the diaphragms were in some type of condition that was not so bueno. My mechanic replaced all of them less the ones inside the spring brakes and now the system holds air when on the brakes. The pressure builds evenly and much quicker. It holds the pressure in the tank when the...

    CUCV in the movies

I do not know, the movie just recently completed post-production per the director and 20th Century Fox should be the distributor of the film. It still is projected fro 2014, but may be closer to winter the way it looks.

    CUCV in the movies

<--- Does a CUCV clone Suburban count? (That is if they do not cut it's scene, Daylight's End - fall 2104) I think I recall a M1031 in the A-Team movie. I also think the new Godzilla had a CUCV seen in it.

    M923a2 air question

Along with the leaking air when on the brakes the primary tank would slowly leak down after turning the engine off to zero where the secondary was still holding pressure. Replaced one of the front brake canisters with a new one and now the pressure holds in the primary tank. Still have a leak...

CUCV M1009 Battery cut off switch

Just put a cut-off on the pink wire on the IP, that will prevent it from starting. Generally if you have a battery kill and there is no power, thieves will look for a cut off and may find it. If the truck turns over and does not start, they will just move on.

    M923a2 air question

Is there anything special to pay attention to when changing the diaphragms on the smaller canisters? I want to just replace them all since it is safe to do these on the smaller canisters. Part# AD17544 Found them for $6.25 from surplus parts store. Per my old school math, there are 6 of these...

    M923a2 air question

I looked through the TMs and see the TS guilds I do see my issue exactly and does say it may be the brake chamber. However, I did not see the q2 valve mentioned. Can someone post a picture or a part number for that? Thanks.

    M923a2 air question

Thank you all and trust me, I WILL NOT make any attempt to change the diaphragm on the rear. I even told my mechanic to not do it or even think about taking them apart. He is a friend that owns a shop and is helping me out. I will check that front q2 valve and see if that is it.
