jerk the stock t-case,there not good for todays road speeds. I,d get a 350 sbc,th350 or th400 with a married np205. change the r&p gears to 4:56,s or better yet swap in gm 1 ton axles. jmo
also seeings your in sc I,d run 50 weight Valvoline racing oil, it still has all the additives the 230 calls for mainly zinc. I run it all the time except dead winter then I run 2 qts and the rest rotella 15-40
make sure the oil line to the rear of cylinder head is good and not leaking reason being its where the oil pressure gauge sender is also located. these oil lines are notorious for going bad and costing you a engine. if its the stock oil line I,d change it out to steel tube line. this line is the...

yes, its the coolest running t-case I,ve ever seen or herd of. by chance did you shoot temps after the longer drive > more importantly did you have a good time ? hope so. it might pay you to check fluid level inside t-case now.

some temps would be perfect. take one at cold, then every half hour. shoot temp at same spot every tine so reading are consistant please. also I,d carry some spare gear oil just in case you do develop and issues. jmo

just stateing from my experience and the rebuilding of almost 40 of these t-cases not to mention the resto,s ive done for close to 40 yrs. head out hope all goes well for you.
doing the fuel line split mod will give you nothing extra because in 250-300 hp the fuel pressure is almost at its lowest setting. mpg should be around 5 mpg empty
