I just left my mechanic a voice mail asking him to: check and see if my M1009 has the bracket; check and see if it should have the bracket, but doesn't.
Hey, where's Loganville? Just kidding; I live in Monroe.
It was a sad moment this morning as I watched my M1009 go onto the back of a wreaker. It's nothing terminal; it's a broken starter motor bolt and a terrible racket when I tried to crank it (didn't try long and it didn't crank).
I did ask my mechanic if I could get on some kind of monthly...
I haven't seen an one-stop "here's my photos and/or video from my last play time in the woods", so maybe this will be the start of one.
This is from this weekend. Hey, how do you post videos on here?
I've been top-less once so far (but today is looking pretty good). I'm down in GA so I really think I'll have the top more in the fall and spring than in the summer (too hot and afternoon rain pops up).
When the top is off, it sits on the frame I built. My 14 yo son, his friend, and I can...
Replaced my driver's rear shock mount assembly. I had the shocks installed about 2 months ago. Yesterday evening my son and I were trying out a new trail. Not too bumpy, but during the trip I heard a metal hitting metal "bang". Loud enough for me to wonder what it was, but not loud enough to...
I installed new, correct amperage, fuses in the fuse box. This included removing some previously installed "creative" wiring .
I also built a portable ice cooler AC unit for my M1009. I'll let you know how well it does in the GA summer heat.
Replaced the old "push them through and then spread them apart" cotter pins on the D-rings with hairpin-style (?) cotter pins. After spending what seemed like 10 minutes getting the old pin out so that I could attach my recovery strap in the middle of the woods, I decided it was time to make a...
Wait a minute, how do you do the car tag/duct tape repair again? rofl
Seriously, I'm very interested in seeing how this works. My driver's side rocker panel is mostly bondo right now and I'm not a welder.
Hmmm, I'm intrigued now. What size/type of trailer could I pull with a M1009 (2" lift and 33s)? It's not quite as cool as getting (and converting) a M1010, but it would be a heck of a lot cheaper.
Ok all you purist, I know it's not regulation, but I think it's a good example of making use of the available resourses. Adapting and overcoming: Pic #1 - Wire shelf from kitchen section at Wal-mart, zip ties from Big Lots; Pic #2 - it can hold a Sterilite dust-proof storage container (held in...
I got a 1 1/2 ton scissor jack from Big Lots for $18.00. While I'm checking my TM manuel, can anyone go ahead and tell me if that is a high enough rating.
Well, I'm not an experienced off-roader yet, but I am work on it on a weekly basis :driver:.
I'm leaning toward the Hi-lift type of jack; the idea of being able to use it as a winch too is interesting. However, I can get a bottle jack at Big Lots for cheap. For the minimal additional money...
Well I guess this was sort of a busman's holiday for you then. :-D
The son in question in my story is 16, he's even less mechanically inclined that I am, and we were working on his first car. It went well though; we bonded and fixed the car. 8)
