I really like the look of the KM2s and everything I've read about them. So you are happy with them on the paved road as a daily driver? I didn't mention, but this won't be my daily driver. Weekly for sure, and it would be nice to be explore "new" dirt roads as I find them.
Well, I say I say (in my best Foghorn Leghorn voice) no disrespect intended Sir. There may be mud as bad as red Georgia clay, but I can't imagine any that is worse. :-)
And the answer is... ?
Hey y'all,
I'm going to need new tires on my (new to me) '85 M1009 soon. I'm guessing the driving ratio will be: 60% paved roads at 60 mpg or less; 10% interstate; 15% dirt roads and trails; 15% good ole Georgia red clay MUD after a nice rain.
I'm not a serious off-roader/bogger (yet...
Well, I guess I'm a full-blown member now. As of this afternoon, I'm the proud owner of the M1009 that's been my avatar since I joined.
I'll try to make this short: My Dad gave my oldest son his '86 Dodge Ram truck for his 15th birthday. I suggested that my son use some of the money he'd...
So you're the guy who out bid me?! ;-) (Actually, I think at least a couple of people did) Well, I hope it turns out to be a sweet one for you. I ended up getting a M1009 too. My son bought one from a private seller in January and when he found out I was bidding on this one he let me know...
Do you know how much of the bag(s) actually fill up with the WMO? I wonder if a smaller bag, say 3/4 full, would do the same job as a larger bag only 1/4 full? If you have a 16" bag, but the WMO is only filtering, and eventually clogging up, at the bottom 3 or 4", it seems like a waste. Plus...
You've inspired me. I think I'm going to build a rig as close to yours as possible. I can't weld though; I wonder if PVC pipe would work as a frame? Also, I think I'm going to add one first step - a 5 gallon EZ-strainer. They goes down to 75 microns and they're reuseable.
I just had a another thought - Do you really want to fill the filtration bag to nearly full capacity? Also, what happens if you do? Would more of the WMO just pass through the surface of the bag to the outside and then run down to the bottom and drip off? Would a fuller bag filter more liquid...
Ok, if I did my math right (ok, if I used the volume calculators I found online right), a 7" diameter X 32" height bag should hold up to 5 gallons. That size in the heavy duty polyester felt with the carbon steel retaining ring is $8.46 on the McMaster-Carr website. Can anyone beat that?!
I'd like to run a 25-50 % mix of alternative fuel in my son's '85 M1009. After much thread reading, it looks like WMO through a set of filter bags might be a cheaper, easier set-up than either WVO or biodiesel. I think I'm going to rig up a 3 bag system similar to what I've seen described on...
My 16 yo son and I got out on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and did some first-ever rattle can magic. We sanded and netralized the rust where needed first. We also plugged some bolt holes (?) in the bed. The front bumper and grill guard is next.
Hmmm, there looks like there is a slight vertical dent near the back of the front quarter panel, but I can't see a matching dent further down the body.
I'd like an idea of what's it worth so I can decide what I'm willing to bid. For example, I know a $20,000.00 bid would win it (exaggerating for effect), but it's not worth that to me.
I'm with boreal21 - I want it as cheap as I can get it!
