"28. FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT TURNS ON (TRANSFER CASE NOT IN FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE)
Step 1. Turn key to “RUN” position. Disconnect lead from four-wheel drive switch on
transfer case.
If four-wheel drive light goes out, replace switch.
If four-wheel drive light stays on, trace circuit. (See wiring...
It finally rained yesterday afternoon (stormed), so we hit the (red clay) mud last night. I had my two sons with me, and my oldest son's friend also went in his F150 (5.0L gas V8, 4WD) with new Kumho tires. We went everywhere the F150 went; neither one of us made it up a solid clay embankment...
The Final Chapter - I was back at the part's store, talking to a different associate about the column switch. He said the "click" should come from the switch itself and I can swap it for another one. Go home, take off switch, come back later. Turns out my first switch worked fine, once you...
Headlight dimmer switch replacement turned into a full dash and instrument cluster removal. I tried to clean out the dirt, sprayed or wiped off all the electricial connections, replaced all the cluster lights, tried to match what few original screws were left, and then re-installed.
I'd rather have it work at the column too. I did a test drive last night - reaching down and clicking the dangling foot switch by hand. Not fun.
I'm going to check the adjustment first. Any good threads, preferably with photos?
I thought I saw this addressed somewhere, but I can't find the post. Here's my question: Which indicator/idiot lights are supposed to light up at ignition?
Right now, in the upper left hand bank all I get it Gen 1 (and my voltmeter isn't registering either). I didn't even know I had a 4WD...
I bought and installed a pair of Silverstars yesterday based on the glowing (pun not intended) recommendations in this thread. However, while the lights seems "whiter", they don't seem to project very far down the road.
Yes, I know you can adjust them. I fiddled with them last night (park on...
Are the blue lights connected to the wiper lever in some way? Normally you would pull back on the wiper lever which actuates the dimmer switch and turns on the hi beams. I've cut that whole process out of the loop by plugging the connection directly into a foot switch.
My hi beams didn't work so I replaced the switch. No hi beams. I replaced both headlights (which I was going to do anyway after reading so many good things about the Silverstars). Still no hi beams. I unplugged the connection from the brand new installed switch and plugged it into a brand...
When you say "switch" do you mean the wiper lever, or the actual switch located down on the steering column? And, is there supposed to be a "click"? If so, does the click come from down at the switch or up at the wiper lever?
I bought a brand new (down on the column) switch, and the parts guy...
Ok, I replaced the hi/low beam switch - no hi beams; I replaced the headlights (read good things about the Silverstars, so I'd have done it anyway) - no hi beams; I unplugged the connection and plugged it into a foot switch - HI BEAMS!
Crude but effective.
When I bought my M1009, the previous owner told me that the hi beams didn't work. Apparently the hi/low beam switch went bad. Previous owner's solution was to unplug the connection, close the loop with a short section of wire and tape it up like crazy.
Well, I replaced the switch (NOT an easy...
I took off the camo seat covers and steering wheel cover that my son had put on. I wasn't crazy about the pattern, fit, and the fact that being nylon they didn't breath at all. Also, my son has a friend that wants to buy them.
The new ones are adjustable along the sides of the back of the seat...
I haven't noticed any (yet). I haven't even had them a week yet, so I've only been down a couple of dirt/gravel roads so far. I'm also thinking about a 2" lift, for the look (yes, I can tell the difference) and little additional clearance too.
My CUCV also served a local county sheriff's dept. after her military career. That is were she picked up the black & white color scheme. (The tacky euro fog lamps came from the previous owner and will be gone soon)
