i purchased a replacement fuel filter base from oem-surplus. between this and replacing all the rubber fuel lines back to front solved my hard to start problems.

nice job. some may think the cost is prohibitive but to combine highway drive-ability with the M1008 working capacity you have quite the formidable beast. makes the guys driving the 50k trucks on the road look penny wise / pound foolish . . . naw just foolish...

speedt the weekend cleaning up some loose ends on my M1009.
one thing i have traced but not fixed is a coolant leak.
i have discovered that the expansion tank has a small leak on the bottom seam where the 2 pieces of injection mould come togeter.
does anyone have an idea...
says running condition unknown but 7k miles and looks nice.
bought it to replace my m1009 daily driver
it seems the MV virus that i caught is fatal . . .
due to the snow in ATL the heaternow working worth a flip i replaced the blower switch
started at 18F no problem with the new glowplugs and doghead starter relay.
no problem in the snow.

it has been getting colder down here in the south with morning temps 18 - 22 and it felt like the starting relay was starting to 'stick' a little and i did not want to toast the starter
so yesterday i executed the Doghead satrter relay modification . . . a al Warwag with heat shrink tubing...
good work looks great!
did you use heat shrink tubing on the connectors?
is the black stuff liquid electrical tape or what?
this is next for me this weekend.

i had a similar problem with my M1009
if i did not 'catch' it on the first try it would take much cranking to get it running.
wallew, warwag and others indicated it was probably the fuel filter base letting air into the system.
changed the fuel filter base over the...
