Mark... Last couple questions I promise!!
#1 Did you buy all your necessary trailer tongue components from R&P carriages? (Lunette, Channel and 2in ball) I am going to be emailing them as I dont have an Ebay account yet..
#2 When you painted your frame and box did you simply power wash...
Thanks Harley... I appreciate it. I am going to do my trailer the same way this summer. I am not into the MV shows and such. I bought my trailer to be a serviceable hunting trailer. What you have done looks like it would work perfect!!
Sorry for the dumb question but is the parts just...
Harley... Maybe I missed it somewhere... I was wondering where you got that nifty channel that you mounted on the tongue of the trailer? Also, Did you have the Surge brake system. I am looking at modifying my trailer and really like your ideas.
Jeff
Thanks and will do... Might not be for awhile.. Need to get some spring cleaning out of the way before I begin working on my "toys". After the wheel wells are widened, I will be looking at either getting the bed lined by a pro, or using a kit to do it myself.
Jeff
Yeah... that is probably what I would end up doing...That was probably the exact thing that was in my head, just didnt translate it to words correctly...
Has anyone ever done this? I am sure someone has.
Thanks
Jeff
Hey guys..
I searched but could not find anything on the subject of modifying the wheel wells on a M101A2 trailer. I know this has to be done to fit a communications shelter in them but I am looking at doing this for more space to accommodate 4x8 sheets of plywood and eventually a quad...
Recommended = safe
Possible = pushing the limit.....
I would hate to have to buy new wheels...
could I squeeze a 265 on a 6.5 " wheel without having the side walls budge out ridiculously
.
Thanks again....
Are there any specific years of GM vehicles that I should be looking for that have the same hub size , same lug pattern, yet wider wheels? 7" would be fine.. 8" would be better but I am sure they are hard to fine. What about tires rubbing on frame. I dont have the trailer...
Thanks guys.. I appreciate the help. Yeah... Maybe I need to look for wider rims.. I would like to get a 265 tire under the trailer if possible but am not sure if I can use the stock 6.5" wheels. Need to start searching for new wheels I guess!!
Thanks
Jeff
Guys...
I have searched the site and cant find an answer to my question. I am looking at getting new tires for my M101a2 and weighing my options. If I am not mistaken It has the 16" wheels that are 6.5" wide (8 lug). It currently wears the 235/85/16 stock tires. I want to try and get the...
Gary.... Thank you very much...
Anything else I should be concerned with? While I am asking, what about the following?
CDR?
Spin on Fuel filter?
any other reliability/starting/driving mods anyone can think of?
Thanks
Jeff
Thanks Guys. I appreciate all the useful info. I cant wait to go pick the M1009 up on Saturday. Hopefully it doesnt have too many Gremlins, and if it does, I am sure I can find answers here.
Warthog.... is that $250-$500 quote if I pull the pump myself and hand it to the guy to rebuild...
Thanks guys. As I said, I am buying the truck from a private seller (out of state) and he stated the truck is in perfect running/driving condition. Well "perfect" to you and I may mean something completely than different than "perfect" to him. I put a nonrefundable deposit on the truck so...
Hey guys. I am fairly new to the site and MV's in general. I am picking up my first CUCV this Saturday from a private seller. It is an 1985 M1009 in really nice condition. I was wondering if there is a thread dedicated to "must do" mods? I searched the site but only found general mods...
Thanks recovery... you think I should look for the 3/4 ton stuff... Me too.. what exactly should I be looking for if I head out to a scrap yard and poke around? As I said, Probably want something with 3.73 gears front and back. What front axle assembly should I look for and what rear axle...
