I'm also of the opinion it is easier to remove it with the lines still connected to the pump too. Looks like a big spider.
Keep everything operating room clean. Use whatever you need to to keep crud and hardware out of places it does not need to go. Duct tape, rags, paper towels, vacuum...
Personally I have had good dealings with Oregon fuel injection and Redding fuel injection (Redding CA).
Whoever you use make sure they are a Stanadyne dealer. I had a DB2 pump rebuilt by an outfit in Klamath Falls Oregon that used a mystery knock off seal kit. It failed 10 months later, one...
This should get you close...
you can see that I had to cut the inner fenderwell.
I cut mine 6 1/2" long from the centerline of the shock mount hole. If you look at the above photos you see that I could have gone about an inch longer and they still would not have protruded past the bottom of...
You might find steering difficult with one. Personally I wouldn't run a front locker without hydraulic assist steering. As far as the spartan goes, It is a pro that it is a lunchbox locker because it will be easy to install and won't require setting up your gear pattern all over. Con is that...
If you were feeling cheap you might be able to get away with pulling the fill plugs on the axles / transfer case and taking a look at the fluid to see if it was contaminated before you change it.
I'd give your front wheel bearings about a 95% chance they are contaminated, along with the stub...
It will run with the timing marks aligned. But I am about 95% sure that somewhere in the GM diesel supplement there is some sort of chart with suggested advance in millimeters on the marks. If you don't run some advance it will be hard to start in the cold and will smoke. When I get some time...
If you want to do something a little different you could go with the newer GM 10.5" AAM axle housing. They have factory disk brakes with internal mechanical drum parking brakes inside the disk hats. They use the same carrier / ring & pinion / bearings (except for one pinion race) as the 14...
I doubt you could remove it with the manifold & lines on. It does unscrew, but trying to get a wrench on the two flats with it together would be impossible. You would probably need a special socket to try and get it off with the lines on it. I'm pretty sure it is just a last ditch effort by...
I just looked at the the Stanadyne exploded diagram. Now I'm 100% certain there is a screen on the intake / input of the pump, not chicken wire on the intake manifold. It is a cone shaped screen.
I'm 95% sure there is a screen in the intake.
Please post some pictures of the carnage if you have time. Curious how you will like the Conestoga Diesel pump.
