I run DCA-4 additive in my truck. The NHC 250 is very prone to electrolysis which will lead to eventual coolant in the oil. The DCA-4 combats that. You can pick it up at most any semi truck service center for about 6-8$ a bottle. I used about 3 bottles to get the right level in my coolant. Also...
The parts t case that came out of always worked great. It never slipped out of high and didnt even settle towards neutral. The low side dogs look brand new, they still have what look like to be "machining" marks still on them. Just a stupid thought, but is there any reason that the synchro can't...
If it were in 6x6 in all gears that would infer that the transfercase is engaged or "locked in" and all 6 (or 10) tires are receiving power all the time. It is in 4x6 until the slip engages the sprag no matter what gear the truck is in. That's what I was getting at.
Partner, you are the one who said it was "locked in" in ALL gears. Read the first sentence of post 14. Just because you can read the TM doesn't mean you understand it.
Absolutely correct! For a deuce the shift rail for first and reverse extends out the back of the transmission, that connects to the Tcase (sprag only) which then moves the shift fork for the overriding clutches to engage either the forward sprag or the reverse sprag. A five ton is air actuated...
Well I need some input on this one, got the parts Tcase split and the synchro that I was planning on using pulled out. It looks pretty worn out in my opinion, but need some second opinions from someone who knows what they are looking at. Is it worth using or time to start looking for a replacement?
Thanks G! That is what I'm looking for! The synchro that went bad is in a "new" Gov rebuild Tcase that I installed in September, so I'm hoping that everything else inside of it should be in good shape.
Not all deuces had dual airpacks. I think I'm correct in in saying that most only had one, and only a few were retro fitted with duals. If not ill be corrected here shortly!
I had the synchro in my airshift Tcase go out in my truck, so I'm going to attempt to use the synchro out of a sprag transfer case I have laying around. I need some advice and tips/tricks on how to get this done. Any special tools required? Are the gears pressed on the shafts? Torque values? I'm...
They do awesome In the sand! Just gotta air the tires down. I run mine at 20psi up front and 10 psi in the rear. I drag my 30ft camper in DEEP sand getting down the beach at our local lake and the truck never even gets wheel hop...
Need some opinions! Looking to possibly buy this M108. I don't have much info on it, but what I do know is: it runs, everything works, it's got the OA 331 gasser, it's used regularly for business reasons, and its only 200miles away!! I know it's not much to go by, but what's a ball park figure...
Not really game to take the truck mudding (took weeks to get all the mud cleaned off!) but a get together and cruise sounds great! Not 100% sure my brother and I can make it yet, but we'll try!
I run 13.00x20 tubes with my stock wheels on 395s. Tried 11.00 x20s first but had 3 tubes let go in 2 weeks. Be safe and spend the little extra money to get the correct (or fairly close) size.
Sorry about that...According to the receipt.....
Part# 253660R2
Description 122C Gasket
Price- $1.35 each
I just took the old gaskets in and they matched them right up with ones they carried in stock.
I bought mine from Boyce equipment. They had every gasket i needed in stock. Also, I soaked my exhaust nuts for 2 days before tackling the job. All but the 2 behind the turbo came off super easy! I found that pulling the turbo made removing and reinstalling a whole lot easier. The only snafoo I...
I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I had to remove the exhaust manifold and top water manifolds in order to get the intake off. I acted like it wanted to come off without removing the exhaust, but the studs were just a hair too long for the intake to clear them. I'm sure you already...
