Sorry. I did read the rules when I joined. Totally forgot. I belong to several forums for different interests. They all have their own rules. Hard to keep track of which forum allows what.
I saw that one. It look in great shape. You can ask for a shipping quote. If I needed one that big I would be tempted. But 10kW is a big large for me. I rather do load management and save the fuel. I found a spec sheet that the military consumption rate is just under 1 gph.
You are probably correct regarding parts. I was thinking that parts like water pump, injection parts, hoses etc. might be easier. But certainly items specific to the unit will be harder to come by as there are not many out there yet.
While a newer machine is nicer as far as getting parts. I am not sure a liquid cooled machine is better for my purposes. Yes the reduced noise would be welcome. However the increased failure possibilities is not worth it for me. I rather have a more simple air cooled machine with a regulator...
I do not need a permit to cut trees. We are not that bad, yet. Most of the zoning laws are good. I do not want a windmill, 30 junk cars, etc next to my property. Enviromental laws are enforced here and are strict. Mostly the town just wants your money for a permit. I was adding a deck to my last...
I would have to guess that there is an oil pressure switch. If there is no oil pressure or the switch is bed this may be your issue. I do not know much about your model but does the TM show an oil pressure switch?
I did not intend to insult you. In my town a tank that is elevated 5-6 feet off the ground would attract attention. A 275 gallon oil tank with the bottom 5-6 feet off the ground would be 8-9 feet off the ground if laid flat. I don't think I could get my oil guy to climb a ladder to fill it. The...
Not against storing fuel. After the October snowstorm last year and Sandy this year stored fuel proved to be a smart thing. I actually gave my fuel to a friend who could not get any. I just not sure I would want my fuel tank 10 feet or more in the air. Maybe in cow country you could get away...
I like toys like the next guy. Buy the MEP-004 if you want it. Most likely overkill but if you are ok with fuel consumption and have a way to load it up then why not?
The panels do look interesting. I was thinking of taking a chance on one. Lucky I forgot the meters in the MEPs have separate transducers. The frequency meters from Simpson and Hoyt have direct connections to voltage rather than using a transducer. The load meters might actually work if you...
I have a generator connection box and interlock already. Once I get my unit running and bring it home I will make a cord to plug it in. Then we will do a test for a weekend to see how she does. In the spring I may build a shed to hold it. Have not decided on how to store it. I am torn between...
You have an all electric house? Heat too? Or just appliances and water heater?
I have all electric appliances and water heater. Oil for heat. I do have city water so no well. I have a Generac 7500W unit I bought last year. Put 80 hours on it after the October snow storm. I decided to buy a...
I know where EMPs come from. Just was curious. I like building cool stuff too. I did not mean to make anyone upset. I am prepared for extended outages. I want to use the MEP-002A as my main b/u generator and keep my petrol model for backing that up. Once I get my units running and working good...
Neds and wants are 2 diferent things. Corvette man wants to run everything without any concerns. SO go for it and buy the big machine. Do a trial run on a weekend and see if wet stacking is an issue. if so then worry about load banks, etc.
Personally my choice is to go with a unit that can run...
