    Correct Stop/Turn Bulb

In the SS parts cross reference list the NAPA 1662 (lmp) is listed as the correct stop and turn signal bulb for all military but when I bring up the NAPA catalog it shows a twin contact base and staggered side pin 24v bulb. The burned out bulb I removed from my M35 and cross checked to my M715...

    Interesting find

The Davisville stamp caught my attention. While the Navy is long gone the port is not closed. It's now a major civilian port of entry for auto RO-RO ships delivering to the upper northeast. A number of the old Navy buildings have been converted for auto processing.

    Deuce Non-Start

Deuce Non-Start (it lives again) Well thanks to all the information gleaned from this site and member's messages my Deuce was finally restored to life Saturday . After previously reinstalling the chemically cleaned fuel tank, new filters, etc I transferred a used hydraulic head from a pump I...

M1009 - What is the Max combined towing weight

I tow much less weight than your intention with my 1009 and find the 3.08 gearing looses it pretty quick on hills, etc. On the other hand the truck will cruise nicely at 65-70 with no trailer. I've had a couple 1008's and they will handle the load you describe but you run out of top speed due...

    SAFETY WIRE GAUGE

To buttom up my IP I need some safety for the fuel cut off assembly. Since I'll probably have to order from McMaster Carr does anyone know the wire gauge? I'm guessing around 20+.

    Deuce Non-Start

Completed all my fuel filter replacements after having my fuel tank cleaned on my once running truck. Bled out everything but haven't been able to get fuel through to the injectors. I finally was able to get the center cap off the IP head and did the pencil in the hole routine and it appears...

CUCV Replacement Seats or Seat Covers???

As far as the M1008 covers I used LMC part number 38-2292-LL as having the closest match on style. The color, as has been stated, is in their catalog as Red and is not a perfect color match for the Maroon used in the trucks from the factory. Not good for a perfect restoration but close.

    6.2 diesel oil filter location?

Horizontal definitely HMMWV. I have an old one I took off a HMMWV block and it measures 8" from the center of the pickup tube (where vertical filter screws on) to the tip of a mounted filter. I put a CUCV filter assembly housing on a HMMWV block for an install in a M715 frame due to space...

CUCV Replacement Seats or Seat Covers???

I've used the LMC covers on a M1008 bench seat and was very satisfied with the match and quality. Cover was a bit loose on the driver side due to the condition of the underlying foam which I did not replace.

    Custom reciever hitch

That was my point. I bolted the bottom of the pintle assembly to the larger cross tube of the Class 3 hitch which in turn is mounted to the frame.

    Custom reciever hitch

I did remove that piece. Been over a year since I did this, senior moment etc. etc. Just noticed the modification now that I've reviewed my own pictures. I drilled through the Draw Tite cross bar and used longer bolts that you see in the last shot up through the pintle base mount. I would say...

    Custom reciever hitch

Got the CUCV hitch pictures this weekend with one correction, it is a Draw-Tite 75129. Only modification to the truck was flattening out the safety chain tabs. It works with the pintle using a draw bar with a slightly longer reach that offsets the hitch ball just outboard of the pintle.

    DEUCE FUEL PUMP RENOVATION

This is the center cap screw surrounded by the injector pipes that I had problems removing. Once off it allows for the pencil or something similar, as described above, to be inserted and observed for movement while cranking the engine.

    DEUCE FUEL PUMP RENOVATION

Roger that, I would have put the old ones back in but unfortunately dumped them when cleaning the cannisters in a parts washer at another location. Aside from cleaning out my fuel system, I have come full circle back to where I started when I had the first engine shut down before discovering...

    DEUCE FUEL PUMP RENOVATION

There's definitely fuel at the injectors but not a lot (not enough to qualify as a mess by a long shot). That was my concern. It looks like maybe I'm not getting enough fuel pressure out of the pump. I wonder if enough of the rusty fuel got past the filters to gum up the pump?

    DEUCE FUEL PUMP RENOVATION

AARgjhhj!! I thought I would have my deuce running again this weekend but no luck. Remounted the fuel tank after having it cleaned, reinstalled the fuel pump after some careful Naval Jelley work around and underneath the top. Dropped the old primary filter, not done before, and it was rust...

    Custom reciever hitch

Everything military is still under there. Give me about a week and I'll get you some pictures. Truck is located at my weekend property. I had to pull the mounting bolts with some light weight mono-filament fishing line tied around the bolt threads from an access point to the bolt holes. A...

    Custom reciever hitch

I mounted a Reese hitch to my 1009 which allowed the Pintle remain in stock configuration. It's a strong frame mount installation although a little tricky getting the bolts through the holes in the frame. I've pulled a single axle cattle trailer with a 500 pound calf. The 3.08 axles aren't...

    Deuce Fuel Cap Vent

While cleaning up my rusty fuel tank, pump, etc. I noted that the fuel cap has a small propellor like tab on the tank side center of the cap that allows shifting from a vented to non-vented condition for fording. I can't find any reference to this fuel cap feature in the -10 section on fording...

    DEUCE FUEL PUMP RENOVATION

Did you break the connector clamp at the top under the fuse housing? Did you have to cut the wire to separate top from bottom or is there a connector buried in the top housing?
