I'll have to check through the lines one more time... I did not look at the hard lines or the ones down at the trans itself (if there are any... I feel like I saw one down there, but I haven't looked lately and can't remember)
Can one of those other vacuum components (pump, modulator, etc)...
Replaced the vacuum lines for the transmission. They were old as **** and basically cracked off in my hands. Glad that's taken care of. The sound, however is still there. It's very weird... happens only at like 80% of engine's redline. Maybe I'm just finding the harmonic frequency of some...
The sound happens related to engine speed, not vehicle speed... so it happens at lower speeds as well... like I said it seems to be when the trans is getting ready to shift (1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and also in third at higher engine speeds) I assume my trans is still the stock TH400. It's...
Does the vacuum system really produce so much vacuum that a leak could make a hissing sound would be audible inside the truck while it's driving ?? (truck is very noisy)
Hi all,
It's gotten pretty cold out, and I've started to hear a funny noise... A hissing sound, like compressed air escaping. Seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle.
It seems to happen when the engine is at higher revs, actually it seems like it happens mostly at times when the...
According to the PB'laster Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for their Penetrating Catalyst product, it is basically two types of thin oil (Petroleum Distillate) and uses Naptha as the solvent. The first item listed in the contents: "Dinonylphenol ethoxylated phosphated" may be that catalyst...
just an FYI from a chemist... just about anything will eat through a styrofoam cup... gasoline, acetone, toluene, MEK, probably WD-40. Not to knock PB Blaster, which I have never used, but I do want to downplay the "strength" it requires to eat through styrofoam... it's basically the...
that's funny, I was looking for this part today as well and couldn't source it either. Am planning to hook it up directly. I suspect that fitting is there for easy hooking up of a vacuum gauge.

My truck also has this connector, which is dried up and cracked. It's shifting correctly, but I suppose that's only a matter of time... I am planning to replace all the vacuum hoses but could not source this part. I'm guessing it exists so that you can remove that plug and attach a vacuum...
I replaced my CDR Valve and re-tensioned my belts. Got rid of an annoying rattle at idle (don't worry there's still about 100 more annoying rattles at idle) due to one of the power steering bracket bolts being loose (again! I know!!!)
The new CDR Valve seemed to make a world of difference...
Whoa! An M1009 is a K5 blazer???? I thought it had a somewhat familiar shape...
Seriously though, I ordered replacement seatbelts from LMC Truck and they were not the same. Can you confirm that the civy blazer belts are the same as the ones used in MV's?
My truck (M1009) is missing the rear seat belts. I have the two male ends that mount to the floor on the outside edges, but the female parts and the middle belt are missing. I had ordered seat belts from LMC truck, but am not happy with how they bolt in and look. Does anyone have spares of...
From TM -20, Chapter 4 Section 5:
"Remove 6 bolts (25) and access
cover (27) from transmission housing
(26) . Measure clearance between
starter pinion (24) tooth and flywheel
(23). Clearance should be 0.02 in. to
0.06 in. (0.50 mm to 1.50 mm). Add
shims (10) as required. Install access
cover...
Actually, now that I think of it... the shop that replaced the starter really screwed me by not adding oil to the new rear axle they installed. I should probably replace those bolts b/c I bet they re-used the old ones :-(
Oh look at that... a bunch of replies while I was typing up this novel... thanks guys!
chevyCUCV: My starter was recently replaced. I will have to go look at my old starter, but it appears I may have had a gear-reduction before and switched to a direct-drive (I know the current one is...
How to Tighten the Flex Plate Bolts in a CUCV for Dummies
I was planning to shoot a video of this... but it didn't work out. I was successful in tightening those bolts! I was able to get a few of them slightly tighter, but none of them was really loose. Such a load off my mind, knowing...
Flex Plate / Flywheel / Torque Converter Bolts Tightening Procedure For Dummies
Heading outside right now to check my flex plate and tighten up the bolts. Not experiencing any of those issues right now, but it seems to be a common problem, so I'm going to do some preventative maintenance :D...
