wheel cylinders
When we did ours, we pulled the axle shafts, bearings and then the hub / drum as a unit. Allows you to repack the bearings.

Hello SS,
Hopefully an easy question about large kw military generator sets. If the data tag only shows the out put as 3 phase, can it be converted to regular 120 / 240 volt single phase?
Basicly I know zip about these units.
Thanks, Karl
Steering box
The steering box started this job, at some point in this trucks life the lube leaked out of the steering box. When I picked it up and drove it home the steering was rough, oil ran out past the seal just as fast as you could put it in. I filled the steering box with grease until I...
Hello SS,
Pictures of work currently happening on the M35. We use this as a work truck so down time is hard to fit in.
Replacing the leaking head gaskets, heads resurfaced, replacing broken valve springs, drill & tap exhaust manifold for pyrometer, change all hoses and belts, replace very worn...
5 ton steering wheel
Hello quarkz,
I have a NOS 5 ton steering wheel available for $25 + shipping if you are interested. I purchased it by mistake for my XM215 dump truck, let me know.

Hello SS,
Have some questions about installing a pyrometer on the M35A2. I'm confused on how the probe is connected to the gauge, they all appear to have electrical connections on the backs of the gauges. Are these available with mechanical connections, if so were can they be purchased? I...
Hello SS,
I'm right in the middle of changing the head gaskets on our mutli-fuel now, just picked the heads up from the machine shop. This is my second time doing the heads on a M35, not very difficult task even single handed. First time I just pushed the manifolds to the side still attached to...
Mack
The WW2 vehicle museum in Hubbard Ohio has a Mack NO and a long tom on display. I have seen the ones at Sam Winers in Akron, rough would be generous.

M2 HT
Hello Chuck,
Great looking HT, good motivation for me to get mine completed, currently our M2 is stripped to the bare frame. Could you please PM me a pic of the rear, we are also using a M4 rear door set up for easy access. You are correct, some parts are getting tough to find, you...
Hello SS,
It is time to put the markings on the GMC 2.5 T dump truck, I had planned on doing it as a Seabee truck.
I don't know if the Navy ever used the GMC M215 dump during the 50's or 60's or how they marked their vehicles.
When did the fighting bee logo appear? When viewing some CCKWs...
Paint
I usually have had good luck with Gillespie's products. What color did you use, thinner, number of coats, drying time between coats, hardner, drying time between primer and paint. OD semi-gloss #24087 (#?) is a soft finish even with hardner. I like the lusterless paints, they appear more...
Air pak rebuild
Rebuild kits for the M211 Bendix air paks are N/A (or at least I could never find one). The 5 ton M54 / 800 trucks use a larger Bendix air pak than the M211, but 95% of the rebuild kit works for the M211 / M135. There is one seal for the small piston on the top of the M211 air...
Those are M35s ?
If it is the same pair I know of they are M35s, been sitting there for a year or two. One looks like came from a fire dept, other is camo with a single cargo bow (extra tall) installed near the cab. They had one there several years ago, wanted $6500 for a rusted out M35...
M215 tail gate
Hello Eric,
The correct tail gate is another problem, different than the REO 2.5 T tail gate, after purchasing one I found out the hard way! Memphis Eq. in Chambersburg PA had two M215 tail gates in stock about 3-4 yrs ago (I purchased one, was around $425). I picked mine up to...
GMC dumps RULE!!
Congratulations Eric,
Good luck on your project, looks like a great start. Do you have the fuel tank? That was the most difficult part to find for ours, only common to the M215 dump / M220 tractor.
Let me know if I can be any help.
Karl
Hello SS,
The gods at GL have smiled upon me! I faxed my application to GL for the SF97 along with the state vehicle inspection form on Thurs 1/18 and perpared myself for the next big hassle dealing with these fine folks. Monday 1/22 (yes, one business day) Fedex delivered an envelope with my...
