Only time I've seen an NV4500 grenade itself, is when the owner doesn't use the proper fluid. The proper fluid for an NV4500 is expensive and if you try to save some bucks by using cheap fluids your going to shell out alot of cash on a rebuild.

One of the guys around me has a old M211 with a chevy 350 in it. its a TBI out of a 87 Suburan, he says he gets about 12-14 cruising. Pretty sure he put a turbo 400 behind it also. Chevy 350s are a dime a dozen, might find someone willing to trade strait across for your 7.3
