I don't think you were wrong, but personally I would have handled it a little more calmly & forgivingly. (1st) I would have simply showed up (ON TIME) like you originally agreed to, and not made 50 calls & texts before you even got there. (2nd) The gate was probably locked because it was Sunday...
The big picture point I'm trying to convey is that if your going to go through all the hassle & expense of doing a diesel engine swap. Why not get as much out of an end result from all that work & expense as possible? At the end of the day, if you did an honest comparison of 2 CUCV's (#1) with...
Agreed, sounds great for just what they're marketing it for JEEPS not CUCV's... OOPS but then there's the 4BT for jeeps :shrugs:. Here this guy has a really good series of videos on cummins swaps..........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nRm4EMjN0s
Well to that I say, there's a large aftermarket support already in place dedicated to swapping 12 valves into ANYTHING. Including a complete bolt in kit for the 73-87 Chevy trucks. As of now you'd have to fab up everything from scratch for this new motor, including either a new trans, or an...
Well yours mounts different then. On the original CUCV 6.2 motors, when installing a Banks turbo you have to relocate the CDR valve. They are basically like a little oil bath air filter, like vehicles from the 50's had. The hose is supposed to go from the engine, into the bottom of the CDR, out...
The vacuum pump fits in the block the same way a distributor fits in a gasser. There's a rubber O-ring that seals it to the block. Also I wouldn't count out the injection pump leaking fuel. Most of them start leaking out around the throttle shaft. That little bit of fuel mixes with all the sins...
Can you post some pics? The CDR valve is very temperamental. If you've installed it backwards or unlevel it will suck oil into the motor QUICKLY! Also they can fill up pretty quick normally, like 10,000 miles. You can clean it out with diesel fuel.
Can't confirm the CDR, but I doubt it's the problem. Leaks are just part of owning these old trucks. Their 30+ years old and every gasket & piece of rubber is dry rotted from sitting, and WILL fail one by one. I would check for leaks up top. Starting with the injection pump and move back from...
Okay.... My M1028, has a Banks turbo, I replaced the stock heads with a NEW set of 6.5 heads from Bostic Motors. I re-installed the original stock injectors & injection lines. And it's run fine for around 10,000 miles. The only problem I had was I used a set of 6.2 head gaskets, which are...
I was just thinking that too. I would prefer a stock set up, but a transfer tank set up mite be kinda cool too. How did you plumb the tanks together? and also the pump to another vehicle thing?
Yeah this is for furthering my range. Finding diesel in ATL can be difficult & sketchy:shock:. I already have a compete takeout diesel passenger side fuel tank including sender, fuel cap, and straps. I guess the tricky part is the wiring to the gauge, correct?
