    cold/fast idle sensor...

Check for power at the solenoid. If there is power when the engine is cold and it isn't moving it is bad. Could also be the sensor. Possibly why it was unplugged?

    35's and shifting?

My m1009 has 35's and does 1st to 2nd at 25-30 and 2nd to 3rd at 45-50. Is this high? The engine is really roaring when it shifts, but this is my first diesel. Do the 35's affect this? I heard the vacuum lines from the IP the the tranny might be dry rotted and I checked them. They look pretty...

    Alternator Trouble

Ok I printed out the wiring diagram in the tm for the dummy lights, but before I start tracing wires are there any common spots that tend to corrode or wear that would make it quicker to diagnose.

    Bullets

My a guy my friend knows put the power lines that now run across the range in and while he was working there he found a belt of 6 .50 cal rounds that were still live. He took them home and removed the gunpowder and has them sitting on his shelf and since were in the desert they look like new...

    Bullets

The larger ones are 1/2 diameter. What kinds of guns would have shot these? Also what kind of vehicles/planes. The pieces on the left center side of the general picture are clips for a belt of 50 cals right.

    Bullets

I was shooting with a buddy yesterday and he took me to this military range that was closed after WWII. After shooting we searched for Bullets and other items left on the range after it closed. We were finding them everywhere! After about 2 hours we left with what we had picked up off the ground...

    Alternator Trouble

Ok I checked the volts right after starting (with engine idling). Gen 1 = 14.2V Gen 2 = 27.5V. If I gave it some gas Gen 2 went to about 28.7V.

    Shift indicator question

Or 1 click=reverse, 2 clicks=neutral, ..... The indicator takes all the excitement out of gear changes :) I think I may give the paper clip thing a try as there are more pressing matters on my truck.

    Alternator Trouble

I know this has been posted before, but I didn't see a fix for my problem. I have a m1009 and the previous owner said the alternators were replaced not long before I bought the truck. When I drive a I notice the Gen 2 Light is lit. When the truck is first started the light is VERY faint, but as...

    Dana 44's on an m1009

I would be probably be towing around 1500 at the most. I am thinking that I will try and get my hands on dana 60 rear if the 10 bolts hold out till I have some $$. I found a guy on CL whos ad says: " Parting out 86 Chevy Blazer. 6 Inch lift. Dana 60 rear possy (sp). Dana 44 locker." Are...

How good/bad these 10 bolt axles?

It has a 4" lift and 35's. I know a guy who converted his np208 to a fixed yoke rear. I believe he machined some parts and used a dodge rear cover on the T-case.

kid from MO needing some info

I just got my first truck (m1009) and I am 17. So far I haven't had much trouble with it (just a problem with my t-case from a short drive shaft the previous owner didn't lengthen when he lifted the truck. I have been able to do all the repairs my self and have loved every minute of the truck...

    Dana 44's on an m1009

How long will my current 10 bolt last with the 35's and mostly on-road driving. I don't have much to spend right now as I just got the truck so it might be a while (couple months) before I have $400 to spend on axles. Also if I got a Dana 44 front and a 14 bolt rear and added a locker to the...

How good/bad these 10 bolt axles?

I cracked my np208 because the bonehead who owned it before me lifted it and used the stock drive shaft (which turned out to be about 3" short). I was able to limp home on the front (about 10 mi) with the case bone dry and the only part that died was the nylon finger tips on the shifter forks. I...

    Dana 44's on an m1009

Hey, When I purchased my m1009 it had 35" tires and a 4" lift kit. I know that running the 10 bolts with 35" tires is a bad idea so I am saving for axles. I know a guy who has a Dana 44 front end with the matching rear, not sure what the gearing is in it but he wants $400 for the set. Is that a...
