Not sure if this is related or not (or if its been covered yet): but when searching around the forum, especially older threads, when those threads have links to other threads, they take me to the main site and not the intended link. An example...
I don't think he has a hole in the oil pan, it was in reference to Jeepsinker's post. Either that or this thread just got really confusing...
You might be able to call one of the surplus dealers and see if they have anything. They might tell you to just use any bleeder valve with the same thread pitch, but its worth a shot.
Just now seeing this thread... Very nicely done. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. I wish I knew how to weld and do body work, I can turn a wrench but have zero experience with anything else.
Agreed, most bad oil pressure senders I've seen go bad either peg the gauge out or show no pressure at all. Mine does both sporadically, so its making me lean towards the sender, but its still "odd" for what I'm used to seeing.
Thanks for the info, my gauge is completely inaccurate and reads maxed out sometimes and then nothing other times. Once I start digging into it, I'll definitely keep this in mind.
Wow, very nice! It makes the truck look very updated and comfortable. Looks like it would be good for road trips. I absolutely love the OD leather in the seats. Good job man.
Just make sure you have the drums on before trying to bleed the brakes or apply any pressure to the system. If not you'll end up blowing out the wheel cylinders. I've seen it happen more than once with drums and disc brakes.
I might get a 1/2" hose just to be sure. I put a QD fitting on the air line in the cab and was going to use that. I have a 30gal compressor but its 2 1/2 hours away...
Its possible you got some bad seals, or the wheel cylinders are junk. This is one of the reasons I got 6 new cylinders to put on. How bad was the pitting/did it come completely out after honing?
^^^ That is going to be the easiest/best way to do it. I use this trick all the time with rounded out bolt heads. But when you do this MAKE SURE you put enough downward pressure so the socket doesn't slip off, otherwise it will just make it worse.
I agree with thinning the oil with gas, that should take care of it assuming that is in fact why the truck isn't running. I know this might be a stupid question (but I don't know your knowledge about diesel engines), but did you bleed the air out of the fuel system after changing the filters?
