That's probably the easiest and most fool proof way to make sure all your lug nuts haven't moved. I started noticing them on commercial trucks a few years back. I wonder if they make OD ones...
That definitely sounds like a good place to start. Bear in mind that most places like that TYPICALLY (but not always) have higher prices. But at the very least you can go browse around and look at them and potentially drive one. Also, make sure you do your research on whats involved in...
Not to be the stereotypical "well I don't live there, BUT" guy. Check Google, there are quite a few MV places around here that aren't really advertised and you have to really dig to find them or hear about them word of mouth. Craigslist is always a good place to check, and if you want to cough...
Thanks for going through the trouble to put that together. There needs to be more "quick reference" things like this vs. having to dig through the TM's for something simple.
Welcome aboard, I've been on here researching and learning for several months and am still learning and finding out new things. It can be overwhelming at times, but rest assured eventually you'll start piecing it together. As far as the tires, I'm not 100% sure, but someone was saying Goodyear...
:drool:Wow, just wow... I honestly wasn't really a big fan of the Vietnam era color until I saw this, but that looks simply amazing to say the least. One of these days if I get the time/resources I'm wanting to do a complete ground up restoration on mine... Looks like I have some pretty serious...
Cool, good to know there are some more people in my vicinity. We should all get together and have a mini rally or something along those lines sometime soon.
Story of my life with anything automotive... One of the reasons I decided a while back that our primary "road trip car" would be a car...
We bought our truck with 11's on it. So I can't speak for how it drives with those vs. the factory 9's. But it seems to do ok driving around town, it falls on its face on any kind of hill though (which is apparently common with these trucks regardless). Looking to do a 395 single conversion down...
Subscribed.
I'm toying with doing a crew cab conversion on our Deuce... But I don't want to bob it. Kind of makes me wish we had gotten an M36. I'm thinking about seeing what would be involved in keeping the axle layout the same and putting in fenders on the rear of the crew cab to make sure...
This thread is interesting... I'd be curious if any of the major large engine companies were to actually be contracted to develop a modern, reliable, and performing multifuel engine, what they could come up with. Engineering has come a LONG way since the original multifuel's were designed. I'm...
Sounds like a problem you'd run into with modern computer controlled cars... this is a long shot, but maybe you have an extremely intermittent short on your power supply. Is the 25v consistent or does it fluctuate at all? I've seen a ton of extremely weird electrical issues with cars in the past...
If you got it for a good enough deal I'd start sourcing parts and see if you can get her up and running again. If not, you have an excellent parts truck with some pricey upgrades to swap over to your other Deuce.
On a side note that steering wheel looks pretty funny in that truck...
Well, we've only had the truck for a little over 2 weeks. So I haven't really gotten a chance to do much of anything to it minus fix a few leaks and replace the fuel filters. I was looking through the receipts from the previous owner and saw that he had the fuel turned up, but the truck doesn't...
Well, my plan is to replace all 6 wheel cylinders and do all the axle seals, repack the bearings, etc..., replace the master cylinder, replace all the rubber hoses with steel braided, and replace and/or rebuild the air pack. I thought about going with the dual circuit system initially, but I...
That was actually the thread that got my thinking on this. I just never saw any follow up to reliability especially with trimming the fan blades... My truck has 1100x20's on it right now and I'm wanting to eventually single it with 395/85/20's, and when I hit hills it falls flat on its face, so...
You're best bet is to actually go to the DOT's website and check the rules and regulations. You're going more than likely get a LOT of people's experiences in different states than where you're traveling, which is irrelevant to you the states laws you're going to be traveling through. As far as...
Yup, I just ordered 6 wheel cylinders from NAPA. I was initially going to get them online, but turns out with my dealership discount they were considerably cheaper from NAPA. Now I just need to find a cheap source for DOT 5...
After seeing this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?115661-Turbo/page2 I was wondering if anybody actually had any experience or luck with any reliable alternative fan options. I found a few other threads that were talking about fan clutches and electric fans but the threads...
