There's a good chance it is the tires. It could also be a lot of other things. The springs on the king pin bushings wear over time. Some people just shim them with fender washers, but the replacement springs are cheap. Steering/suspension components and alignment can also cause problems.

Re: RE: Stock dual exhaust size?
The confusion may come from dealing with different types of pipe. Exhaust pipe may all be measured by OD, but much of the piping we deal with is measured by ID.

Had to question them both having the same u-joint, but the book agrees with you. I would have bet money that the 60 was running a 1350. The shafts are different diameters between my 1031 and my K5, but the 3/4 ton swap in the K5 was done before I bought it, so it might be aftermarket...

That might be the way to go. I know the shaft in my 1031 is a lot heavier than the one in my K5, but then the K5 only has the 3/4 ton axles under it.

Don't think it's a simple swap. One truck has a 10 bolt and the other has a 60. The minimum would be a u-joint/yoke change (or a conversion joint) on the differential end. The length would need to be checked and the CV joint on the transfer case end would also need to match up. Is it...
Not in a CUCV. They're both 12 volt alternators. They have a floating ground and are wired to supply a 12/24 volt system. Most of the vehicle is actually 12 volt. The starter, power to glow plug resistors, and jumpstart plug are 24 volt.

I only have the right alternator since I went to a straight 12 volt system. I try to keep these alternators between 13.8 and 14 volts. Mine was pushing 15.1, so I pulled it apart and put a new regulator in it.
If you can load test your electrical system, you can check the output at each...
There is no adjustment that I know of on these alternators. The alternators both have non-adjustable internal regulators. It might be a good idea to test the output of each alternator.
I just finished repairing the opposite problem about an hour ago. I had an alternator putting out...
This might be a dumb question, but I can be pretty good at coming up with dumb questions. Does this resistor reduce the voltage to 12 volts? If it does, can I just bypass it since I have converted to a 12 volt system?

Re: RE: Re: RE: WARNING - DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid
That would make sense because the fluid is not being mixed. I'd guess it is being mixed under pressure while in a brake system.

Re: RE: WARNING - DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid
I think the earliest we were able to verify was around 3 months. We also had a few that we were not able to identify a time frame for any added fluid. I wrote these off as not having fluid additions documented by the mechanics or fluid being added by the...
Re: RE: WARNING - DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid
I guess I might have a little experience with this. I spent 26 years in the vehicle maintenance side of the house in the Air Force. We found that it would take a while for the fluid to start to gel when mixed, but it would gel. If you look at the label...
Re: RE: Battery/Starting
If you plan on jump starting other 24 volt vehicles, I'd keep it original. I changed over to a 12 volt starter and I highly recommend the conversion. I'm running the same two batteries and one alternator. I picked up the starter for a little over $100 and it works...
That looks like the outline that's on the floor mat. I just never really paid any attention to it until I pulled it back into 4H and noticed that the entire cover moved with the shifter.

I need a picture of the transfer case shifter boot and housing for an NP205 transfer case. I know these were in the M1031 and I think they were in the M1028. There's a shifter boot and housing on mine, but it's not bolted to the floor and appears to be the same as was used on the NP208. I...
