Cucv Glow Plug Part Number for Replacement

I heard some so-so things about Bosch GP's. Maybe they were a different kind, not the duratherms. I like the sound of heating up faster. I'll have to get some when my 60g's wear out.

    air bowing out oil fill

Check and test everything before you jump to conclusions. None of us here can tell for sure what it is. Is all the oil milky or was there just a little gunk on the rim of the oil fill? Sometimes if the temperatures change a lot, just humidity in general, or from lots of short trips...

    Not sure

At first I was gonna call BS at 50mph...but then I remembered what your front bumper looked like. That's what CUCV's should've come with in the first place.

Cucv Glow Plug Part Number for Replacement

Yeah either of those. I went the extra "mile" and removed the resistor bank all together. But a wire nut and some electric tape would work just as good. Might as well just replace them all. Who knows how much more life the plugs in the engine have. They might test ok now but then burn out...

Cucv Glow Plug Part Number for Replacement

I recommend, as do many others on SS, AC Delco 60G. They're supposed to be self-regulating and non-swelling. You can get them at NAPA. They have the fat spades though (1/4" ). You'll have to cut off the stock connectors (on the glow plug wires) and crimp on new female spade connectors (or grind...

    That's what I'm afraid of.

Yes to the first part. No to the second part. The lift pump is on the passenger side of the engine. Low down, towards the front.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

There is something in the TM's about how much fuel should come out after a certain amount of time. Also, check the voltage of the wires going to the IP.

    That's what I'm afraid of.

Just get your current one rebuilt. From what I've heard, it wont be real cheap, but it wont be outrageous. Just replacing the flex ring would be like putting a bandaid on it, after 30 years that's not the only thing that will need replacing. Not only that, I wouldn't recommend trying to...

    My New M1028

Nice looking truck! [thumbzup] I the Hazardous Materials placard on the front looks cool. Especially in conjunction with the yellow beacon. Does it have any of the hazard signs on it?

    M1008 Meltdown

That reminds me!! I too have all the Doghead mod parts sitting in the truck (along with oil change supplies), but haven't installed them yet. On the plus side there are battery disconnect switches in the truck... but that's not a solution to the problem. Tomorrow looks like a great time to do...

    No more white smoke

Yes and no. Black smoke is partially burnt fuel. It burns, but isn't fully consumed. Think of burning wood. Not all of it is consumed, some is left over as ash/soot. Black smoke is usually caused by overfueling. Whiteish/grey smoke is unburnt fuel. On cold start white smoke is normal. The...

    seat brackets

Looks real nice! I had thought about looking for some nice Eddie Bauer/Explorer/Mountaineer seats too, but was a little concerned with access into the backseat. Plus it was hard to find any that weren't totally shot. Did you hook up the electrics? How does it work for you? I got a 40/60 split...

    Black engine oil!?

Normal for any diesel. I can't say I've seen many, if any, diesels that didn't have black oil. Everything from early 80's 5cyl Mercedes, 6.0L Powerstrokes, up to Cummins ISX's. Just do as you would with any other vehicle's oil. Check the level, color, the texture, smell, etc... if it's not...

Planning the right M1009 for me

Did you use the top calculator? If you set it to 31" tires at 70 MPH, and you didn't change the axle ratio (the default is 3.08 ), and then you read the RPM for "Manual" it would be 2337 rpm... The overdrive ratio in the NV4500 0.73 or 0.75? I use the bottom calculator (The one where you...

Planning the right M1009 for me

The Suburban has a 4 speed trans with overdrive. The 1009 has the 3spd so the RPM's will be higher, and better for towing. The Suburban w/3.73 @65mph is 1900rpm VS a 1009 w/ 3.73 @65mph: 2600rpm I know a lot of guys with 1008's put 4.10's in them and are happy with the results, however, your top...
