1) I would run a steering box brace. ORD makes a good one.
2) Buy the heavy duty rear shackles. With the stock rear setup the shackles are under tension, when you do a shackle flip they are under compression. I'd say it is a must if you plan on hauling firewood etc.
3) Go with crossover...
I'd pass on those. I like the brass zerostart heaters, or the OEM GM block heater (which I think may be a zerostart)
The part number for a 1,000 watt one is 310-0059
Whatever you get be sure to follow the instructions and clean out the hole on the block. Zerostart suggests silicone grease...

I have 4.88's with 37" tires, it is almost the same as 4.10's with 31" tires. With the 700r4 it almost makes that 6.2 snappy off the line. Also seems to be "right" when pulling mountain grades at highway and freeway speeds.
What size tires do you plan on running?
I had a 700r4 with stock tires and 4.10 gears. I thought it was perfect.
If you go with 33-37" tires I'd go 4.56.

On the passenger side of your transfer case there should be two large threaded holes (about 5/8" dia). On every 73-87 4x4 Chevy besides yours there is a big steel rod bolted to the transfer case there up to the bellhousing.

I think the Bosch injectors are made in India now. You can find a lot of NOS injectors on auction sites, just be sure to not get the correct fine thread 1983 and newer ones.
Bleed it.
Jack up the front so your tires are off the ground and with the engine off turn it lock to lock a dozen or so times. Fire it up and do the same. Check the fluid level. Should be A-OK after that.
