I've had the truck running....so right now the WAIT light comes on every time I I turn the key to run. To answer your question right now the light stays on for about 2 seconds, mirroring the Wait light. This seems to be a first use of the day issue, today when I turned the key the first time I...
Finally had some time to get back to trouble shooting this issue. Its not just the light its no glow plug function, but it works perfectly after cycling the key once. Any help always appreciated.
I did search the forum and review the TM before posting this question. The temps in my area are starting to dip in the mornings requiring glow plug operation. I have noticed the past several first starts of the day that when I turn the key to the ON position all the correct lights light up...
I have had my1989 M998 for about 3 weeks. After several short shake down runs and some research on this forum I am sure now that my cooling fan locks up at 160 on the gauge and the truck has yet to get hotter than 190. At 160 there is a loud whining noise from the Cadillac valve area and a...
That GEN 1 light should not stay on after you start the truck....thinking that's where I would start. Unplug and clean any connection you think is part of the charging system. TM saved me every time but you'll be out of luck with that glow pug system hack job...Nothing in the TM about that...
Replaced the oil in all 4 hubs....well 3 and topped one off. PO destroyed the right rear drain plug. I used Lucas 75W-90 because I had several quarts from an old project sitting around. I did note the LO called for 80-90 but I did see and option to use GO75. I made an assumption that 75W-90...
My first ever and new to me 1989 M998 4 man arrived late last night, after waiting what felt like forever for a transporter to grab it...after all the pre operation checks I went on a short hop. No issues as of now. I am already thinking a 4L80E upgrade....outside of my skill level.
Just cleaned out the grime and what was left of that broken down felt, lubed up the spots that needed it....did"t replace the felt in the tracks because I did have them on hand. That may be a project for another day.
oh, yes...its been sanded and painted... I was referring the the getting that heavy joker all lined up and bolted down. Did one alone once...once was enough.
Continuing reassembly of NF0LXR after the recent paint upgrade...just got the back bumper lined out... gonna need Soldier B for that front bumper and brush guard. PO opted for the chrome rear window crank. Anyone want to trade for a black one? :)
