No the army never installed the option for 24v DC to 110v AC. The converter box next to your fuse panel makes 110v AC into 24v DC, but not the other way around. You would need to install an inverter into the system to get AC from the truck. If you did that then the 24V feed wire would need to...
Is it for the starter? It would probably be okay, but there is a good chance it won't work unless you provide 12v to the signal terminal. Are there any other markings or numbers on it?
FYI: I've done a search of this (thimble vs front lug nut) in the past and it seems like the majority say just the bud nut is fine. I agree that if singled out the bud nut (thimble) should be changed. So yes the thimble works, but no it is not safe.

On the batteries I am going with 6 volt wired in series parallel. It seems on other forums that they are more robust due to thicker plates.
