Yeah - but he said "tag trailer" which I would assume to be pintle hook, not 5th wheel. That's a lot of weight for that setup - you could have 20-30,000 lbs of tongue weight. If the machine is roughly 60k, and the trailer probably is in the 10k range - figure 2/3 of the load on the trailer...
So a craigslist ad showed up the other day - 1,900 LF of telephone poles, FREE. Deal was they wanted one person to take all of them - good and bad. Two days later on craigslist - log bunks - set of 4 for a whopping $275. Bolted the bunks to some 4x6's and I was on my way. Some of those poles...
I'm in NY, which adopted the federal DOT standards a few years ago so it should be the same in many other states. Medical cards are required for driving out of state. As far as CDL or not, I registered my M813 at 26,000# which is under the GVW that would require a CDL. I may be in violation...
I wish it was a dropside. As far as the lens - hard to keep stuff clean down on the farm. Those photos were taken with a Blackberry in and Otterbox case - so that's two dirty lenses it's looking through - lucky it can see at all.
Don't worry - that's a farm road only configuration. Everything gets strapped down if I need to go down a public road (and I would drop the last 2 wagons also)
There is one strap on there - across the front of the bales on the truck to protect me of they try to shift forward.
Many LED lights will accept a range of 6 to 36 volts. Yes, the 24v-specific LEDs are not cheap - I beleive because they are military spec. Check one of the major suppliers like truck-lite.
You could also wire two 12v lights in series so they will accept 24v, but the wiring will be a pain since...
I have to attribute that to the operator - MY WIFE. She made almost 1,300 square bales and over 100 round bales in the last 3 days. I shuttled wagons back and forth to the unloading crew and loaded and unloaded the "train". Nice to have all of our first cutting done by single-digits July in...
Thank you! Actually, I'm feeding horses, not cattle. New Holland 648 with a preservative system. My moisture content was so low, I never needed any of the preservative. The net-wrapped bales are super clean, makes twine-wrapped bales downright ugly.
And to add to the "singles vs. duals"...
Thanks for the compliments. I run that trailer behind an F-450 and didn't want to chop up the trailer or the M813. That hitch was pretty easy to make and I can take it on and off in a minute or less - works great.
This setup saves me a ton of time - 2 round trips at most instead of 5 or 6...
I have mico-locks on a couple trucks. The newer ones have a switch built in that closes if line pressure drops while the brake is activated. Just run power to the switch and on to your airhorn solenoid - I expect it would handle 24v. If line pressure drops the horn goes off. You can't beat...
Thank you. I just broke off the left rear signal skidding logs. I re-attached the ground connections to the two pins inside and glued it all up. I expect there is a bad connection at the bolted connection. I assume a bad ground in one signal would cause neither to work on one side because...
My M813 has a problem with the left turn signal working intermittently. The right signal and the 4-way flashers work, but the left is hit or miss. I went through all 4 corners and disconnected the harnesses and greased all the connections. Under the dash, there is what looks like a much larger...
I got mine from a trailer dealer - any heavy truck dealer should also have them
Truck-Lite - Catalog Product : Model 60 Stop/Turn/Tail & Front Park and Turn LED Oval Sealed 24 Diode
My stop/turn lights work great - those LED's are super sharp. I did have a couple marker lights that didn't last...
Depends on how many braked axles... an electric brake magnet draws 3 amps. A two axle trailer with brakes on all four wheels is a 12 amp draw (if they are all working). I usually feed power to brake controllers though a 30amp circuit breaker.
I would not trust an 8-amp converter for electric...
I have my 5-ton set up for this. I changed all the lights on my trailer to LED's which will accept something like 6 to 36 volts. For now I have a 12v battery under the seat to run the brakes. Triggering the brakes off the pedal was the tricky part, I wired two 12v relays in series to handle...
I have many years as a GC in NYS, and understand your concern. That thing was safer than a lot of situations I saw working for one of the largest contractors in NYS... I only put myself on that rig... you don"t even want to see the pictures of me driving the telephone poles...
