yes. When I bought it I found the t stat incorrect installed. I drained the system, flushed and refilled. Both my Cucv's are falling short and the one has a new core(brass) in it. It is very cold here. When the temps go up to the 20's it's not bad but the last few below zero mornings have been a...
I dropped one of my caps. I looked for over an hour. it's gone. Any idea where I can get one ? I don't want to replace a 300$ battery not to mention I'm screwed tomorrow. I shoved a plastic cap in the hole for tomorrow but don't like the idea of not having the proper vented cap. They screw in...
I have cardboard in front of mine. Still freezing..:)
Even put a brand new GM T stat. Problem is it is so cold here that the fresh air coming in is cooling the core off too much.
Tired of freezing my nuts off in this frigid weather. I have a universal 12v auxiliary heater similar to what the civvy suburbans had. Should I t each coolant line or hook the auxiliary heater in series with the cab heater ? Also which hose if I do the cab heater interrupt ? Upper or lower on...
FWIW maybe this is old news but parts are no longer made nor is the alternator.

Yeah from what I read I think the Delco one is a 21si or 24si IIRC. I'm not real fond of Delco Alts though. If I can stay with a Leece Neville, I'd like to. that is just my preference from being a Truck Mechanic/owner. Had much better luck over the years with the LN's. I saw some 140 amp LN's...
If you can remove it, I would strongly recommend doing it. I would not put the motor in without the oil pan on. I'd rather dent an oil pan than crack a 400$ oil pump.
I may talk to my Alt guy and see if we can come up with something else. This thing is alot of money and useless wieght IMHO for the piddly 60amps it puts out. I could save more than half the weight with a little fab and a powerline.
Found this while trying to see if something else could be used. Not sure if it's useful to anyone else or has been posted before.

I took it off tonight. Local Auto electric shop said they can rebuild it most likely. He is somewhat familar as he does alot of heavy equipment and truck stuff.
I would not pull them as one. I did it that way and it is a tight squeeze not to mention the weight.Looking back, I would have dropped the tranny first. You will not be able to pull it with your average cherry picker. You would need a heavy diesel specific one. I pulled mine with a New Holland...

Most of the work is pulling the intake/exhaust manifold. That is the hardest part of the job because it's mostly handwrench work. Once the Manifolds are off, the rest is easy. Do them both.
Fried my Alternator...can I fix it ?
I think I fried the voltage regulator. is it serviceable ? Any idea where to get one ?
I was changing the rats nest in the battery box and I screwed up and hooked the batts up backwards and I saw a quick spark and now it does not charge.
