Process for Herculiner: what did you fill the holes with? Also, I assume that you have to use a respirator. Correct? What type of sandpaper?
Looks like a professional job!
Gave mine a good vacuum today. It was full of rat droppings after having sat for ten years in a West Texas field, plus one remainder of a rat. Nice. ;)
Got her inspected yesterday and then the rear view mirror fell off an hour later. It had disintegrated, so I got a new one and installed her...
I'll do that after I find some good tires. I don't like the idea of driving around on four 13 year old tires tires that have been sitting for for at least 10 years. ;)
New wiring: new battery cables and license plate lighting
Registered and INSPECTED! She passed with flying colors!!
Have driven her about 5 miles. Got her up to 65. No real problems that a good set of tires wouldnt cure. :)
She's getting there. Now it's time to start making her look pretty...
Tonight I changed the tire and installed a good used one.
I changed out the vacuum hoses.
started her up again and ran her in the parking lot. Couldn't get it going fast enough to get out of first. I did notice that there is a lot of play in the steering wheel linkage and that I couldn't get...
Thanks for all the great information, guys.
I spent this afternoon getting the truck registered, new vacuum hoses, a new used tire for $35, and having to buy a bottle Jack. Not a cheap afternoon, but needed.

I am on my way to register the truck with my County. Then, I will be off to my napa auto store for some other parts. :)

Yep...tubing and tire are on my list to accomplish this week. That and getting her registered, insured, new plates, and inspected at some point.
Wiring mess

First is a pic of the newly rebuilt 12v starter that I burnt up. I'm not sure if it was due to the way the electrical system was set up or my trying to crank her too much before the...

I've been working by myself with no one around to help check on smoke, but I'll see if I can rig something to get a view of the tailpipe area while cranking, even if it's just setting my iphone up nearby and recording it. Modern redneck engineering! ;)
I just replaced the glowplugs. They were...
