I guess the real question is how much ACTUAL overspeeding will it take to frag an LDT465, NHC250, or the 6.2L Detroit. No, I will not volunteer.
Try the owls, they work! Before I tried it, I had concerns that some crows would be attacking my owls, since they are supposed to be mortal enemies in the wild (someone correct me if Im wrong). As of yet, no birds have been getting near them. They look cool too, just remember to take them off...
You are too predictable, m109guy. Your blood pressure must be sky high all of the time.
6x6junkie, remember the majority of the folks on this forum are polite and helpful, not rude aholes.
Ya know those big plastic owls they sell at lowes? I had a problem with birds poopin all over the deuces and 5 tons, since they liked to perch on the stacks. Soooo I got some owls, cut big holes in the bases, then slid each owl all the way down onto the stacks. They work well keeping...
I doubt it. Our deuces and 5tons will be around long after those techno euro trucks have crumbled to dust. ;-) Your grandkids will be able to row the gears on an ancient spicer, releasing huge clouds of carbon, and enjoy the defening roar of classic US military hardware.
Its not just the lifting. Its the climbing too  . I've climbed all over our 2 M35a2, M818, M105A2, M129, M146, etc... I feel like a monkey during the "work on the MVs" days. If I worked on this stuff every day, I would be in top physical shape.
When putting the top cover on, are you getting all of the forks in the grooves? I think the rearmost fork is the 4-5 shift (been a while since I looked at it). Will the corresponding gear move back and forth somewhat when you manipulate it with your hand on the actual gear?

And as always, thank you for this service CARNAC.
Yeah, I kinda figured. I didn't look at the tach long enough to see what it went to, but it sounded absolutely vicious at that rpm. I think my truck was very pizzed off. My official excuse was I just got done driving dads 5 ton (off switch - duh) and I had a mental lapse.
Please tell me that someone else has done this. Park the deuce. Set emergency brake. Unbuckle seatbelt. Rotate electrical to off. Grab one of those t shaped controls and give it a firm yank. Proceed to crap pants as multi howls to the moon. Quickly shove in throttle handle after 5 seconds...
Couldn't be more correct. K eep I t S imple S tupid principle. I wouldn't mind more smoke as a penalty for better reliability. That said, I'm keepin my D turbo because I don't trust myself to screw around with my good functioning injector pump.
The mechanism for CV joints are quite different. Think large balls and sockets for CV. As it turns/changes angles back and forth, it draws grease in and out between the sockets and balls. Kinda hard to explain without actually showing a working model of one. U joints have little needle...
Also like to add that some bases require you to tow the truck off. 650 miles is a long drive in a deuce. Are you going to drive thru major cities with tons of traffic? I did such a journey of 600 miles in an m818, and even with no mechanical trouble it does get quite tiring at 55mph for such...
Hi there! IMO, the M35A2 is unbeatable as far as fun for the money spent. Just remember, there are people on the outside that will think you are crazy for wanting one. Ex. What do you want that for? or What are you going to do with that thing?
