a lot of the surplus places should be able to get you a new vented cap pretty easily and for only a few bucks. One of mine didn't even have the cap when I picked it up from Chambersburg. I called Delk's and they had a ton of NOS ones they sent out quickly and cheaply.
The Gimpy one and Kip strike again!!!!!
They are a couple of good ones alright. Both have helped me out several times, and are always up for a good BS session or cold beverage when the time is right.
I just noticed this issue. I don't know if it has been brought up or not. I think we may have lost a LOT of valuable information in our forums. I was scrolling through the Deuce forum looking for my "personal sticky's" when I happened to see, about 5 pages in that there were several posts...
If it is a sudden shutdown as you mentioned, I would be leaning toward the oil pressure switch being intermittent or the high temp switch, since they are the only two safety switches on the set. When you have a fuel issue and subsequent shutdown, typically you have the engine loosing power and...
I installed one right behind the passenger seat very near where the slave receptacle wires go through the cab floor. I used a commercially available one, but when we recovered doghead's wrecker from Columbus, it had the exact same one installed to the rear of the cab of his "new" truck. So I...
The general rule of thumb is 2 HP per generated KW. That being said, the standard LDT with 130 HP should be able to comfortably turn a 60 KW head (actually 130 / 2 = 65, but I have never seen a 65 KW head before)
Isaac,
That's all good advice with one exception, and since you don't have an MEP It's perfectly understandable that you are not familiar with it (I wasn't at first either). The MEP-002 and 003 both have aluminum oil pans, so the magnetic oil pan heater won't do much good
Other than...
Good luck to you sir.
You are correct, this is a wonderful hobby and not just because of the vehicles. The people in our "little" community are some of the most friendly and helpful folks I've never even met!!!!!
There are all kinds of pictures located here...2010 Haspin Multimedia Thread.
The next Haspin Rally won't be until next June sometime...when Stretch and Gimp get dates worked out, they will most definitely post them. There is a rally coming up in VA sometime very soon if I remember correctly...
Oh, Stop....you're embarrassing me :oops::oops::oops::oops::oops::oops:
Warlord and I did have a PM going during the starting/running issue. I'm glad to hear that you got her going. They sure are fun little machines to play with.
I'll bet if you track down the supplier to your local station you'll find that the so called "high sulfer" diesel is actually just ULSD dyed red. A station by me advertises the same thing, I called the distributor for them and was told that it was in fact ULSD. It is a federal mandate that high...
It looks like you have had a successful day. Congrats on getting your generator running. It sounds like everything is working OK. The charging system on these sets seems to be a great source of trouble recently with quite a few members. Carl summed it up pretty good though. It is a slow...
While you had it running did you measure the DC voltage at the batteries?
If you had the proper voltage at the batteries then they were charging like they are supposed to.
The gauge itself will not shut it down, unless it drained all of the oil in the pan through the pressure gauge. The two...
I did the same thing when I mounted my MEP-003a on a stripped lube/servicing trailer. I snagged some 1 1/4" (the exhaust pipes are 1 1/4" NPT) stainless braided hoses from work, and ran them down under the trailer deck. Supposedly the laundry trailers have reportedly had up to 12 feet of...
