Marcus - thanks for your reply. I was kinda waiting for you to chime in.
Everything you stated in your post is true. And while I appreciate and agree with your message, I am a little disappointed in your method of delivery, which came across as somewhat arrogant. Regardless, I will...
I believe I have found the fan. Flex-A-Lite Model 104812 is a 24-volt which moves 3,300 cfm and has an electronic controller. I will continue looking to see if I find ay other 24-volt possibilities...
Yeah I have that same setup that Leroy is offering, however I purchased my FlowKooler water pump directly from FlowKooler and my high-volume fan directly from Derale. My new clutch is NOS GM.
After I thought about it and realized that the OEM fan and clutch robs horsepower, it was a no-brainer...
Ok I have made the decision to remove my brand new Derale fan and clutch and go with an electric fan instead. I’ve watched several videos including this very informative one at
https://www.holley.com/blog/post/how_to_choose_an_electric_radiator_fan/
I have concluded that I want a pull-through...
Well I’ll be dipped. That’s the first time I ever witnessed the “theory”which is now proven. I now see why the angles should match as closely as possible. Maybe the reason my M1028 runs so smooth is because my bottom angle is practically straight due to the axle rotation from the shackle flip...
I did the 4” shackle flip and 1” zero rates for a total of 5” of lift. No shims whatsoever and no CV at the transfer case. No vibration, smooth as silk.
I really have never “bought into” the theory of matching driveshaft angles top and bottom. In 50 years owned dozens of lifted Chevy trucks and...
I'm finishing up my P400-700R4-NP241 build to go into my M1028 and am considering replacing the fan & clutch with a separate thermostatically-operated radiator-mounted fan in order to save a couple horsepower during higher operating temperatures. Just wondering if anybody has ever calculated...
Rick - glad you caught the scammer. I sensed something was strange when I saw him start posting on here. He may pop up again under a new stage name, so be watchful. You shouldn’t have any problems selling that M1009. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
Have you considered a Derale cooling pan? https://derale.com/product-footer/transmission-pans/cooling-pans/14204-detail Derale also offers some great looking heat sinks which mounts on the frame rails. I've installed the cooling pan on my 700R4 however the engine/transmission/transfer case is...
Rick I don't believe there are many guys who understand what it takes to properly and correctly "rebuild" or "restore" one of these vehicles, and even fewer folk who have the financial means to fund such an undertaking. Of those who do understand and do have the financial means, an even smaller...
Yes the smaller starter is supposed to have a bracket. The newer style bracket is GM23502557. Those things are usually readily available on EBay. The bolt that holds the bracket to the block is M8 x 1.25 x 20mm. Use blue LokTite and a lock washer.
hope this helps.
You now have a decision to make, to follow advice or to abandon it. You have two (2) replies to this thread, both of which recommend Goodyear tires. I will add my endorsement making it three (3) Goodyear recommendations. But you are now saying you are looking online at tire brands which I...
Yeah I've lost track of how many Chevy trucks I ruint mud bogging since 1969. But then sometime in the late 1980's I bought some of them Smartnin' Up Pills from an ad I saw in the back of Outdoor Life magazine. Those things were amazing! Suddenly I realized what all that mud was doing to my...
I had the wheels built in 1985 to run on a new GMC K30 civilian truck. Ran them for over 250,000 miles with no problem whatsoever. Glad I saved them when I sold that truck in 1995. It would probably be cost-prohibitive to built those 20's in today's market. I had 5 of the split rims built...
