Perform the parking brake calibration from the post-brake pads clause in the TM. If the parking brake is dragging it will interfere a little, and also overheat/smell, but not enough to impact transmission shifting, so I agree with those who say it's another problem also.

Very interesting. I will double check those on my rig. Yesterday the Wait light wouldn't go out, and no joy on cranking. In my case after seeing nothing obvious in the wiring, I disconected the batteries and reconnected. She fired right up after 10s Wait light and ran fine the rest of the...
I'm thankful for this thread. Commisserations, yours looks slighty worse than the one I inherited as-is. My lunette is fully shoved rearward, no forward movement. Getting a Master Cylinder was easy and not expensive, but I am not looking forward to all the other bits that must be smashed...
Quick disconnects are used by some for ease of maintenance of the fan clutch ad and steering assembly (since they both run off the steering pump). The recommended, and most common location is NOT there. No good reason to need one there as far as I can say. That hasn't been a point of failure...
Wire brush and a big can of elbow grease did all 4 of mine. I probably couldn't do it now, as I'm having neck disc troubles in my C4,5,6,7. A wire wheel on low speed might work?

Sure the fuel lines are clear and pumps can handle full load/flow?
Distributor not advancing? I assume the M37 dizzy has flyweights, or is it vacuum advance? easy to have those little springs rust or the vacuum advance seize or leak. Hard to see a vacuum leak at the advance, but you could...
I'd swear one of the original Army videos for operator familiarization showed them shifting while running and trans in neutral. I'm happy to change that practice.

The IP may be the culprit, especially since it's a known failure item.
Before I read that explanation, my thoughts were blocked lines. Easy enough to blow them out with low pressure compressed air. A line can have partial blockage and still pass fuel briefly in good quantity form that stored...
It is widely recommended as a preventive maintenance action when injectors may have air in them, causing one or more cylinders to not be fed and fueled properly. Trapped air and poor fueling can destroy an engine; in the case of gas engines I had a classmate who ran out of gas and her mechanic...
Looking good. I have two green slant back kits available if you’d like to put a soft slant back on it. You can find my thread in the classifieds. Bulldogger
I second the recommendation to give them a few charge and discharge cycles before writing them off completely, but it's looking unlikely for sure. Even so, they do have some capacity and could be good spares for unforeseen issues where some portable 12V power might come in handy (if we first...
Welcome to the club! Looks like a good start. Best do the entire Lube Order and get it all squared away before you put her through the paces, as it sounds like the previous owner may not have done much preventive maintenance. Here are the technical manuals...
