    fuse box problems

Sound like you have an M-1031 contact maintenance truck, for your future reference. Truck chassis usually same as M-1028. The chassis wiring is the same as 1028, 1008 pickups and for the most part the 1009 blazer, if you need to look for a harness. The utility bed components are specific to...

    Wont go over 50mph

If problem started with the addition of new fuel filter, something likely wrong with the filter installation or line was kinked or something. Sounds like classic sign of clogged filter or partially obstructed line. Since you confirmed clearance of return line, if problem started just after...

    fuse box problems

One of my CUCVs is a former brush truck that was originally a M-1010 ambulance. The 1010s are weird in their own right and it was hacked up also. I ended up replacing both cab and engine wire harnesses with ones from a scavenged M-1008. They come up for sale here now and then, and there are...

    Stanadyne Mechanical Override Device

^^^And I was not referring to your post, and I may have misunderstood cucvrus, . But it is an interesting topic. While I have only had trouble with a IP fuel solenoid once in many 6.2 engines (would not turn off), I do like the elegance of all mechanical diesels. The only one I have left...

Does GP now hose down trucks with paint just prior to auction?

Reminds me of a heavy equipment auction I once attended. Rows of fresh painted yellow machines, but if you looked closely, some still had gravel stuck in places like cutting edges, with fresh yellow paint on it too. A crew would go down the line and get each machine running before that machine...

    Stanadyne Mechanical Override Device

I guess all my 6.2s are different. 12V positive to pink wire top of IP or no fuel seems the norm if I recall.

Mep 002 question. What is the switch on the front of the control panel 1 or 3 phase

From my experience, it is worthwhile to check connections to main voltage selector switch on the 002. They vibrate a lot due to motor configuration and often work fasteners loose. Have even seen a couple of the twelve main leads from gen head loose on that switch. That will screw up up output...

    Starter Holes

How far did they get helicoil up in hole? I had to install one on a old 6.2, and I drilled hole a little deeper and got helicoil up further, if I recall, had plenty of thread engaged. I know someone who attempted to drill his out bigger, and he ended up trashing the motor. It is possible to...

    Suitable generator for home backup?

If you want to consider some load management during outages, then you migtht get by 803, 10 KW. The are already configured with 120/240V option.

    6.5 GEP NA or 5.9 12v NA?

The 5.9 is a tight fit in CUCV engine compartment, and will take some fabrication. In the one I've seen motor is shoehorned in at an odd angle and the valve cover still almost touches the firewall. The truck is loud and rattly as all get out too. Don't get me wrong, I love my 6BT with NV4500...

Need some life/truck advice Re: M1031

Since you asked for advice; if you are going to be living out of vehicle for a while, a 1031 would not be my first choice. I like mine a lot, don't get me wrong, but would consider something with more living space and not standing out so much, unless you are pretty rural or a mobile mechanic or...

Cucv engine turns smoothly almost a full rotation by hand then comes to a complete st

Whatever you do, do not bend the lines out of the way, take each side off still clamped together. If you bend them, they will never clamp down right again.

    Starter runon...sorta.

I'd guess the solenoid is stuck on because defective or 12V. Another possibility is the teeth may be engaging too tight, due to wrong or defective gear or starter misalignment.

Help with finding correct gauge cluster / printed circuit.

The "cluster housing" part is the same on almost all chevy trucks of the era, the circuit and alternator light configuration is the only part specific to the CUCVs, so they are easy find in parts trucks.

    So I bought this...burma jeep

That is a very nice truck, I would not change a thing. It is likely the duel wheel conversion was done while it was in service.

    6.2L piston rod side play

That is normal. If you think you may need to replace bearings, test oil pressure first. Don't want to take a good OEM engine apart if it is working fine.

Has this happened to anyone? (oil cooler lines)

The squishy brakes and heat there sounds like brake fluid boiled. Is is still DOT 5? that has a higher failure temp then alcohol based. Are you sure it is engine oil line and not hydraulic/steering system line? That part is perplexing to me. A internally collapsed line in hydraulic system...

    M1008 retro build

Looks great. While I keep my CUCV fleet mostly stock, if I was going to put an gas engine in, the 292 would be a great choice. Had many Chevys with that engine configuration, from 196 to 292 CID, seven main bearings, straight six torque and sensibility. I restored a 66 K-20 with a 292, ran so...

    Where to find "Door Molding"?

I've tried a few suppliers, Precision Seals seems the best. LMC used to carry this stuff, but last batch was not from them and fit was not good. Now I buy direct from this company...
