Usually it is not the modulator either , although possible. Did you check the rubber double connector on the adjsutment valve on top of motor? This is often cracked. It can be replaced with two single hoses.
There is the modulator on the tranny, and vacuum adjustment valve to the left of IP on top of engine, this can be adjusted by loosening screw rotating it some. The vacuum pumps do occasionally go bad, but I'd double check everything else first, those pump heads are getting hard to get last...
If you don't get it out, it will disintegrate on top of piston. Then there is often a rap in the engine, this is caused by wrist pin hole in piston being elongated. This can be fixed by replacing piston, and might as well check the rod bearing while you're in there.
The outputs at the bottom can be a pain. If they are all really tight, it is possible one is cross threaded, which would suck. But it is a tight spot, and if you have crowsfoots that are a little bulky on the sides, maybe they are part of the problem. Quality crows foot wrenches and good...
On several of my CUCVs I've taken the trouble to quiet them down. I usually used a combination of stick on product like Raamat or Duramat, then spray coated interior with a product called Lizard Skin. It helps lower both volume and tone of noise. This is all on inside of cab and doors and...
As mentioned above, the contacts can get pitted and no longer send sufficient current even though solenoid clicks. To make it even more interesting, the condition can be intermittent, and it can also sometimes send a partial current, so sometimes volt meter or even volt meter with a test light...
I'd just take off the old hoses and bring to shop with hydraulic hose service. (NOTE: be sure to cover the open ends of your remaining lines to keep from contaminating your hydraulic system(s). ) Some auto parts stores even do this, local one here does, usually they make up any hoses I need...
Getting fuse box out requires taking off two mounting screws from inside and release of 2 plastic clips. You also have to detach the engine side of harness from driver's side firewall. Usually that is not a problem area unless harness has been hacked, and if you take apart make sure to...
Not only do you want a J code pump, but the actual model number for your truck. There is some interchangeability, but there are several different model applications for a DB2 IP in the 6.2. Not sure what original CUCV pump was, but I believe the DB2 4544 is what I put in one of mine, and it...
As an avid home brewer, this was my very first thought, but I was not going to go there on this forum.
The Badger does look like a more able vehicle, and the need for it is still probably there, I wonder if it will be re considered.
To answer the original question, the blackout switches are integrated into cab harness.
If you are lucky, the person who modified just tucked the switches under the dash, have seen that a couple of times.
Thanks for the replies. I just remember a thread where someone put a lot of work into a mobile trailer w custom fuel tank & all, got a lot of help & put a lot of effort into repair, only to end up parting it when he finally figured out the gen head was cooked. His gen head looked just like the...
If paint is pealed off gen head, is that an indication it was over heated?
None of the ones I have had had pealing paint, so I was wondering if this would be a red flag on a generator for sale, that could not be tested before bought.
How were the 002-003 exhausts before? On the ones I've seen the exhaust turns down, welded at muffler, sort of toward batteries at a 45 degree angle off muffler. Did they have them at 90 degrees?
A while back, there was a big lot of 802s that sat in GL yard for a while with a lot of snow on them(the sale pictures showed at least 6 inches). Perhaps some flappers were a little bent, or somehow water got in during freeze thaw cycles. Some members here bought them and they had water in...
