What year truck? Newer A1 trucks have battery cutoff relays and some other components that the earlier trucks dont. Shouldnt be any draw with the truck off on any of the trucks. How old are your batteries? What type of batteries?

It would be easy to make switches just to run the engine in a first gen truck. One switch powering on the fuel solenoid and a momentary switch to crank at the aux start solenoid. If you wanted dash power you would need a 3rd switch to activate the dash power relay.
